21. Organic bioelectronic devices to control cell signalling
Sammanfattning : The nervous system consists of a network of specialized cells that coordinate the actions of the body by transmitting information to and from the brain. The communication between the nerve cells is dependent on the interplay of both electrical and chemical signals. LÄS MER
22. Rho-kinase signalling in systemic inflammatory responses
Sammanfattning : Endotoxemic liver injury is characterized by an initial release of pro-inflammatory cytokines and CXC chemokines, which leads to a recruitment of leukocytes to the liver microvasculature. The mechanisms of leukocyte recruitment are well characterized and comprise on the one hand a mechanical trapping of leukocytes in sinusoids, and on the other hand a multi-step process of leukocyte-endothelial cell interactions in postsinusoidal venules. 23. Intracellular regulation of TLR signaling Basic mechanisms and importance in intestinal inflammation
Sammanfattning : Toll-like receptors (TLRs) recognize conserved structures on/in microorganisms. The intracellular signalling pathways of TLRs are shared with IL-1R and IL-18R and their activation leads to transcription of proinflammatory cytokines and type-I interferons. LÄS MER
24. Pharmacological evaluation of the NO/cGMP signalling system
Sammanfattning : Platelet activation and inhibition are tightly balanced processes, regulated by various endogenous molecules. In this regard, the endothelium plays a key role in mediating inhibition of platelets by releasing nitric oxide (NO) and cAMP-elevating prostaglandins. LÄS MER
25. Deciphering ret signalling in cell biology and development
Sammanfattning : The rearranged during transformation (RET) tyrosine kinase regulates a plethora of biological processes such as cell survival, proliferation and migration and is essential for the normal development of several organs such as the sensory, enteric and sympathetic nervous systems and the kidneys. After RET activation by its ligands several intracellular tyrosine residues are phosphorylated and serve as binding sites for adaptor proteins that activate different downstream signalling pathways.
