  1. 26. Moisture Conditions and Frost Resistance of Concrete in Hydraulic Structures

    Författare :Martin Rosenqvist; Avdelningen för Byggnadsmaterial; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Hydraulic Structures; Hydro Power; Concrete Dams; Concrete; Frost Resistance; Scaling; Spalling; Moisture Absorption; Macroscopic Ice Lens Growth;

    Sammanfattning : Owing to the winter conditions in Sweden, the effects of frost action may have a considerable impact on the deterioration of concrete. Both superficial and internal damage, which are suspected to have been caused by frost action, have been found in concrete in hydraulic structures. LÄS MER

  2. 27. Towards Full Predictions of the Unsteady Incompressible Flow in Rotating Machines, Using OpenFOAM

    Författare :Olivier Petit; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Turbulent Flow; Sliding Grid; Hydro Power; Kaplan Turbine; OpenFOAM; CFD;

    Sammanfattning : The main objective of the present work is to validatemethodologies for accurate numerical predictions of the incompressible flow ofwater in the U9 Kaplan turbine model. The term “prediction” implies that the useof detailed experimental data for boundary conditions should be avoided, andthat all important features of the studied case should be included. LÄS MER

  3. 28. Hydraulic Power Steering System Design in Road Vehicles : Analysis, Testing and Enhanced Functionality

    Författare :Marcus Rösth; Jan-Ove Palmberg; Nick Vaughan; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Hydraulic Power Steering; Active Safety; Comfort function; Shuttering; Linear modelling; Fluid mechanics; Strömningsmekanik;

    Sammanfattning : Demands for including more functions such as haptic guiding in power steering systems in road vehicles have increased with requirements on new active safety and comfort systems. Active safety systems, which have been proven to have a positive effect on overall vehicle safety, refer to systems that give the driver assistance in more and less critical situations to avoid accidents. 4. 29. System Perspectives on Hydro-Kinetic Energy Conversion

    Författare :Katarina Yuen; Mats Leijon; Chul Hee Jo; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; tidal energy; permanent magnet; direct-drive; in-stream power converter; load control; vertical axis turbine; renewable energy; engineering science; Engineering Science with specialization in Science of Electricity; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot elektricitetslära;

    Sammanfattning : Free-flowing water currents such as tides and unregulated water courses could contribute to world electricity production given the emergence of robust technical solutions for extracting the energy. At Uppsala University, a concept for converting the energy in water currents to electricity using a vertical axis turbine with fixed blade-pitch and a direct-drive permanent magnet generator is studied. 5. 30. Hydro-mechanical optimization of a wave energy converter

    Författare :Chisom Miriam Ekweoba; Andrej Savin; Halvar Gravråkmo; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Ballast optimization; analytical model; pitching wave energy converter; power absorption performance; wave energy converter; geometry optimization; genetic algorithm; floating platform; extended degrees of freedom; beam model; Engineering Science with specialization in Science of Electricity; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot elektricitetslära;

    Sammanfattning : Wave energy conversion technology has gained popularity due to its potential to be-come one of the most preferred energy sources. Its high energy density and low car-bon footprint have inspired the development of many wave energy converter (WEC) technologies, few of which have made their way to commercialisation, and many are progressing.
