  1. 21. Thermal Cycling, Creep- and Tensile Testing of Cast Exhaust Materials at Elevated Temperatures

    Författare :Christian Öberg; Stefan Jonsson; Henrik Östling; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :creep; constant-load; thermal cycling; tensile test; cast materials; cast iron; exhaust materials.; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Materials Science and Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : An exhaust manifold of a truck engine is subjected to tough conditions. As the truck is started, operated and shut down, it becomes subjected to thermal cycling up to around 800°C. At such high temperatures, corrosion, fatigue and creep are active degradation mechanisms. Sammanfattning : The development towards higher specific power and lower displacement engines in recent years has placed increasingly high thermal loads on the internal combustion engine materials. Further, the advent of hybrid power trains placing higher demands on quick starts and a rapid approach to maximum power necessitates the automotive industry to move towards a more robust computational thermo-mechanical fatigue life prediction methodology to develop reliable engines and reduce developmental costs. 3. 23. Modeling and Simulation of CGI Machining on Microstructure Level

    Författare :Goran Ljustina; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; objective strain rates; hypoelastic-inelastic consitutive modelling; Johnson-Cook plasticity;

    Sammanfattning : incorporation of new design materials – e.g. in order to promote lightweight design – oftenleading to significant changes in manufacturing conditions, which can be assessed in anefficient way by simulation rather than more expensive testing. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : For decades the focus of civil protection has been on civil defence shelters to withstand the threat of warfare and protecting civilians. In latter years, the general focus has often shifted towards the protection of specific targets that host functions important to society. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Pulmonary tuberculosis and HIV interaction in a setting with a high prevalence of HIV : clinical, diagnostic and epidemiological aspects

    Författare :Judith Bruchfeld; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Tuberculosis; HIV; Ethiopia; Mycobacterium tuberculosis; diagnosis; direct microscopy; sodium hypochlorite; sputum concentration; epidemiology; DNA drug resistance; P. carinii; PCP.;

    Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this study was to elucidate the influence of HIV infection on the occurrence, clinical presentation, diagnostic yield and transmission of M tuberculosis among consecutive out-patients with symptoms suggestive of PTB in a high TB and HIV endemic area. Among 509 consecutive out-patients attending a university hospital in Ethiopia, 33. LÄS MER
