  1. 1. Valorization of Kraft Lignin by Fractionation and Chemical Modifications for Different Applications

    Författare :Selda Aminzadeh; Mikael Lindström; Hasan Jameel; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Lignin Valorization- LignoBoost Lignin-Clean Flow Black Lignin- Characterization-Chemical modifications-Fractionation-applications; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : AbstractLignin is one of the most abundant biopolymers. Approximately 70 million tons of technical lignin is generated annually, but only little is used for products other than energy. The complexity of lignin hinders full utilization in high-value products and materials. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Extraction of Polymeric Hemicelluloses from Spruce Wood

    Författare :Shoaib Azhar; Mikael Lindström; Hasan Jameel; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :Fiber- och polymervetenskap; Fibre and Polymer Science;

    Sammanfattning : Hemicelluloses are one of the three main components of spruce wood and constitute about 20% of the wood material. During mechanical pulping, 5–10% of the hemicelluloses are accumulated in waste waters, whereas during chemical pulping 70–80% of the hemicelluloses are lost in process liquors. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Some aspects on the effects of dissolved wood components in kraft pulping

    Författare :Ragnar Sjödahl; Mikael E. Lindström; Hasan Jameel; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Delignification; Dissolved wood components; Black liquor; Defibration point; Cellulose and paper engineering; Cellulosa- och pappersteknik;

    Sammanfattning : During kraft cooking a significant part of the wood material, especially lignin and hemicelluloses, is degraded and dissolved in the cooking liquor, rendering a broad range of degradation products with different molecular mass and functional groups. The main part of this thesis has been devoted to clarify the role of these dissolved wood components (DWC) during kraft cooking. LÄS MER
