1. Studies of Supported Catalysts for Environmental Applications: - Flow Reactor Measurements, Monte Carlo Simulations and High Throughput Screening
Sammanfattning : The use of heterogeneous catalysts for environmental applications, primarily for reduction of harmful emissions from vehicles and stationary sources, has successively increased during the last three decades. Driven by emission regulations, research and development within this area attract large interest and resources, especially for automotive applications. LÄS MER
2. Coke on Supported Palladium and Platinum Catalysts
Sammanfattning : Catalyst deactivation by coke formation has been investigated in three heterogeneous catalytic processes, propane dehydrogenation, acetylene hydrogenation and hydrogenation of vegetable oil. Palladium and/or platinum supported on alumina were used as catalysts in all reactions. LÄS MER
3. Transient In Situ Studies on Supported Catalysts: CO2 Methanation and Methane Oxidation
Sammanfattning : This dissertation aims to increase the understanding of important steps in the catalytic CO2 hydrogenation and total methane oxidation reactions over supported noble metal catalysts. A general theme is the role of the metal oxide support for the catalytic reactions. LÄS MER
4. Supported Mono- and Bimetallic Gold Nanoparticle Catalysts for Different Organic Transformations
Sammanfattning : Supported gold nanoparticles are emerging as an important class of catalysts for various organic transformations due to their tunable properties. This thesis embraces the fundamental studies of supported gold nanoparticles for different organic reactions from the viewpoint of understanding the role of synthesis methods, nature of carriers, and addition of second metal on the properties and functions of gold catalysts. 5. Transient Phenomena in CO and Hydrocarbon Oxidation over Supported Platinum Catalysts
Sammanfattning : The aim with this thesis work was to better understand transient phenomena involved in the low-temperature oxidation of CO and hydrocarbons by oxygen over typical oxidation catalysts. Supported platinum catalysts were prepared and carefully studied under transient conditions by means of flow-reactor experiments, different in situ spectroscopic (FTIR and XANES) methods in combination with mass spectrometry and mean-field kinetics simulations.
