1. Effect of fuel composition and combustion conditions on phosphorus behavior during combustion of biomass
Sammanfattning : Due to concerns for climate change and future supply of phosphorus fertilizer within agriculture, there has been an increased interest in the combustion of phosphorus containing waste residues and opportunity biomass fuels. Previous research has shown that during combustion, phosphorus has large impact on ash transformation reactions and may decrease or increase ash-related problems such as slag formation and bed agglomeration. 2. Layer formation on quartz particles during fluidized bed combustion/gasification of woody biomass
Sammanfattning : The formation of sticky layers on bed particles has been considered as a prerequisite for bed agglomeration in fluidized bed combustion and gasification of woody fuels. In addition, the layer formed makes the bed particle less resistant against fragmentation. The fragments from quartz particles can result in deposition. LÄS MER
3. Studies of ash transformation processes in thermochemical co-conversion of phosphorus-rich manure and sludge with biomass residues
Sammanfattning : Efficient use of resources and sustainable recovery of various materials are important to minimize the anthropogenic impact on the climate and environment. One such resource is the phosphorus (P) present in manure and sewage sludge. LÄS MER
4. The effect of surface morphology on bed particle layer characteristics in fluidized bed combustion and gasification of woody biomass
Sammanfattning : A critical process phenomenon in fluidized bed combustion and gasification is the bed particle layer formation which might be problematic in cases where it instigates bed agglomeration and bed material deposition or could improve the process performance in cases where it has a positive effect on tar reduction in biomass gasification. The interactions between ash forming matter for a wide variety of wood-derived fuels with different types of bed materials in fluidized bed combustion and gasification have been profusely studied, and the underlying mechanism of bed particle layer formation has been suggested. 5. Ash transformation in thermochemical conversion of different biomass resources with special focus on phosphorus
Sammanfattning : A great potential exists for increasing the use of bioenergy in thermochemical processes by utilizing agricultural biomass, forest residues, and sewage sludge that have high availability. Many of these biomass assortments have high ash contents with relatively high concentrations of ash-forming elements such as potassium (K), calcium (Ca), silicon (Si), and phosphorus (P). LÄS MER
