26. Child Safety in Car Crashes
Sammanfattning : Traffic related trauma is the most common cause of fatality and severe injury to children in developed countries. The majority of these fatalities and injuries are caused by frontal and side impacts. LÄS MER
27. Experimental cardiopulmonary cerebral resuscitation : A study of cerebral perfusion with special reference to the postresuscitation disturbances
Sammanfattning : Ischemic neuronal injury continues to be a major delimiting factor in achieving successful clinical outcomesafter resuscitation from cardiac arrest. In this thesis, a pig model of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) wasused to address the effects of different interventions on cerebral blood flow and oxygenation during CPR and theinitial postresuscitation period. 28. Energy-metabolic aspects of ischemia and pre-treatment: studies in porcine myocardium
Sammanfattning : The focus of this thesis is to clarify mechanisms involved in protective pre-treatment of ischemia by carbon monoxide (CO) and ischemic preconditioning (IP), so that new pro-tective therapies can be designed. This is studied in heart muscle, where the clinical gain would ultimately be to be able to prolong the period during a threatened myocardial infarction where permanent injury can be prevented. 29. Characteristics of nearside car crashes : an integrated approach to side impact safety
Sammanfattning : Introduction: Approximately 1.25 million people globally are killed in traffic accidents yearly. To achieve the UN Global Goal of a 50% reduction of fatal and serious injuries in 2020 a safer infrastructure, as well as new safety technologies, will be needed. Side crashes represent 20% of all serious and 25 % of fatal injuries. LÄS MER
30. Electrocardiographic predictors of clinical outcome in ST-elevation myocardial infarction
Sammanfattning : Malignant ventricular arrhythmias, particularly ventricular fibrillation (VF), remain an important contributor to mortality in ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). The size of myocardial injury is one more important factor influencing the prognosis of STEMI patients. LÄS MER
