  1. 21. Processing and presentation of exogenous antigen by dendritic cells

    Författare :Liying Chen; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :DC; vesicular MHC-I processing; Adenosine; CD 1 d; TACA;

    Sammanfattning : Dendritic cells (DC) play a key role in the immune system. In this thesis, we have investigated and characterized pathways for the processing and presentation of exogenous OVA on MHC-I ("cross-presentation") and how these were influenced by the purine nucleoside Adenosine (Ado), an immune regulator that accumulates to high concentrations at sites of inflammation and tumor growth. 2. 22. Exploring immunotherapeutic targets in the tumor microenvironment

    Författare :Anna-Maria Georgoudaki; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The immune system has developed along with the evolution of increasingly complex cellular organisms to sustain homeostasis and protect from threats. Cancer, a detrimental side effect of increasing organismic complexity, typically sequesters the immune system and hijacks its functions for its own prosperity. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Acquisition and function of NK cell-associated molecules on T cells

    Författare :Erika Assarsson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Natural killer cells; Natural Killer T cells; T cells; Receptors; Cytokines; Influenza A virus; Activation; Proliferation; Interactions;

    Sammanfattning : One challenge for multicellular organisms, including humans, is to cope with a broad variety of microorganisms and their rapid replication and alterations. To do this, both fast and specific defense mechanisms are needed that can control threatening infections. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Regulation of B cell responses to modified self

    Författare :Emilie Grasset; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The immune system needs to be efficient to protect organisms from invading pathogens. Lymphoid organs such as the spleen and lymph nodes are needed to initiate the response. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Innate mechanisms regulating B cell activation in inflammatory diseases

    Författare :Sara Lind; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Generation of powerful and highly specific immune responses against invading pathogens is essential to our survival. However, the immune system can cause disease if activated in an inappropriate manner. LÄS MER
