  1. 16. Spaceborne Synthetic Aperture Radar for Sea Ice Observations, Concentration and Dynamics

    Författare :Anders Berg; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; synthetic aperture radar; interferometry; satellite; sea ice dynamics; sea ice monitoring; sea ice concentration;

    Sammanfattning : Spaceborne Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) is the primary choice for sea ice monitoring due to its all-weather, day-and-night capability and regular delivery of high resolution images. This thesis presents methods for estimation of sea ice concentration and drift, a multi-sensor study of Baltic Sea ice radar signatures and an interferometric study of landfast sea ice. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Trace metal speciation in the Baltic sea

    Författare :Johan Gelting; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Applied Geology; Tillämpad geologi;

    Sammanfattning : Physicochemical speciation of metals in natural waters is very important for understanding their distribution, mobility, bioavailability and toxicity. To be able to understand the behaviour of an aqueous element and the transformation between chemical and physical species, there is a need for reliable methods that enable measurements of specific fractions of metals. 3. 18. Air-Sea Exchange of Momentum and Sensible Heat Over the Baltic Sea

    Författare :Xiaoli Guo Larsén; Sven-Erik Gryning; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Meteorology; meteorologi;

    Sammanfattning : Long term measurements are used to explore the wave impact on the momentum and sensible heat transfer in the marine atmospheric surface layer. This is important in determining the boundary conditions of atmosphere-ocean coupled models of many scales. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Physical control of phytoplankton growth in the Baltic Sea : a multitude of spatio-temporal scales

    Författare :Sulev Nõmmann; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fytoplankton;

    Sammanfattning : Shipboard systems have been used for concurrent quasi-continuous measurements ofparticle size distribution, Chi fluorescence, salt and temperature and meteorologicalparameters. A resolution from 100 m to basin-wide, supplemented with variousmeasurements at fixed stations made it possible to investigate biological- physical couplingsduring the vernal phytoplankton bloom of the two years 1985/86 and in a coastal area ofthe Baltic Sea. 5. 20. Water and heat exchange processes over the Baltic sea

    Författare :Anna Rutgersson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Earth sciences; Geovetenskap; Earth sciences; Geovetenskap; Meteorology; meteorologi;

    Sammanfattning : Before we can reach understanding of the global climate and predict climate changes accurately we must be able to understand water and energy budgets. The atmosphere-water exchange processes are of great importance. LÄS MER
