21. Recovery of copper and zinc in ashes from municipal solid waste combustion
Sammanfattning : The amount of municipal solid waste incineration (MSWI) fly ash has increased in many parts of the world in recent years. Ashes from municipal solid waste incineration (MSWI) may be a cumbersome waste to handle since containing significant amounts of leachable hazardous metal species and must be landfilled in special sites at high costs. 22. Treatment technologies for human faeces and urine
Sammanfattning : This thesis examines simple, cheap, environmentally friendly and resource efficient technologies for the treatment of source-separated human faeces and urine to enable safe recycling of their plant nutrients for plant production in developing countries. Composting of faeces-to-food waste (F:FW) in wet weight mix ratios of 1:0, 3:1 and 1:1 was studied in 78 L reactors insulated by 25 mm styrofoam; and of F:FW in wet volume/weight ratios of 1:0, 1:1 and 1:3 in 216 L reactors insulated by 75 mm styrofoam. 23. Biobased Combined Heat and Power Production in Sweden – Opportunities for and Challenges to Sustainability from the Plant Operator Perspective
Sammanfattning : Although combined heat and power (CHP) production in Sweden is already largely decarbonised, this technology has further potential to alleviate pressing environmental concerns. Today, biobased CHP plants connected to district heating (DH) grids dominate the Swedish residential heating sector. LÄS MER
24. The Fate of Sulfur during Oxy-Fuel Combustion
Sammanfattning : Oxy-fuel combustion, where air is replaced by O2 and recycled flue-gas to enrich combustion products, is one of the main CO2 capture technologies suitable for large-scale coal-fired power plants. The changed combustion conditions in oxy-fuel combustion influences the sulfur chemistry, which has recently been the subject of increased attention due to the importance of sulfur species in corrosion and flue-gas cleaning issues. 25. Transport of Heavy Metals in Soil Subjected to an Electric Field -A Study of the Transport of Copper in Bentonite Clay
Sammanfattning : This licentiate thesis addressesphosphorus release from sewage sludge, which is the first stepin phosphorus recovery. The concept ofphosphorus recovery maybe seen as a part of sustainable sludge handling in that it isa means of recycling resources without supplying harmfulsubstances to humans or the environment.
