  1. 1. Analyses of shotcrete stress states due to varying lining thickness and irregular rock surfaces

    Författare :Andreas Sjölander; Anders Ansell; Richard Malm; Fredrik Johansson; Jan Alemo; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Shotcrete; cracking; shrinkage; block load; varying thickness; numerical simulations; fibre reinforcement; Byggvetenskap; Civil and Architectural Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Shotcrete is sprayed concrete applied pneumatically under high pressure and was invented in the beginning of the 1900's. This new technique decreased the construction time and since steel fibres were introduced in the shotcrete during the 1970's, shotcrete has been the primary support method for tunnels. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Investigations of Flow Patterns in Ventilated Rooms Using Particle Image Velocimetry : Applications in a Scaled Room with Rapidly Varying Inflow and over a Wall-Mounted Radiator

    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Particle Image Velocimetry PIV ; experimental study; structured light 3D scanning system; ventilation; varying flow rate; room model; wall-mounted radiator; air; water; flow; Particle Image Velocimetry PIV ; experimentell studie; scanningsystem för strukturerat 3D-ljus; ventilation; varierande tilluftsflöde; rumsmodell; väggmonterad radiator; Engineering Mechanics; Teknisk mekanik; Byggvetenskap; Civil and Architectural Engineering; Energy Technology; Energiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis introduces and describes a new experimental setup for examining the effects of pulsating inflow to a ventilated enclosure. The study aimed to test the hypothesis that a pulsating inflow has potential to improve ventilation quality by reducing the stagnation zones through enhanced mixing. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : High electron mobility transistor (InP HEMT) cryogenic low noise amplifiers (LNAs) have made significant improvements in noise and gain following decades of development. Applications are found from radio astronomy to quantum computing. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Fatigue improvement of steel bridges with high-frequency mechanical impact treatment

    Författare :Poja Shams Hakimi; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; HFMI; thickness effect; bridge; steel; variable amplitude; fatigue;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates the performance of fatigue-improved welds with high-frequency mechanical impact (HFMI) for application on new bridges. Fatigue strength improvement with HFMI can enable lightweight design of bridges and allow the utilisation of the benefits of high-strength steels. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Enhancing the stability of probiotics: Freeze-drying and encapsulation

    Författare :Shuai Bai; Avdelningen för livsmedel och läkemedel; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; freeze-drying; lyophilization; L.ruteri; Probiotics; Lyoprotectant; Structure; Encapsulating material; Pore size; Material thickness; SEM; Tomography; Storage stability; Amorphous sugars; Glass transition temperature; DSC;

    Sammanfattning : This research dives into the intricate world of freeze-drying, an essential process in pharmaceutical and probiotic industries, to better understand the factors affecting probiotic stability during storage. The process of freeze-drying and the composition of freeze-dried products significantly affect the stability of probiotics, yet factors such as the material’s encapsulation properties remain relatively unexplored, demanding further research.
