21. Anaerobic Digestion – Microbial Ecology, Improved Operational Design and Process Monitoring
Sammanfattning : The implementation of anaerobic digestion is important in the concept of sustainable development, especially regarding the environmental benefits. Biogas is produced when organic matter is degraded by microorganisms under oxygen-free (anaerobic) conditions. LÄS MER
22. Aqueous Block Copolymer Systems. Self-association, Phase Behaviour and Partitioning of Biomolecules
Sammanfattning : The phase and partitioning behaviour of aqueous block copolymer systems has been studied. The block copolymers used in this work were built up of three blocks. The middle block was poly(propylene oxide) (PPO) and hydrophobic. The two outer blocks constisted of poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) chains and less hydrophobic. LÄS MER
23. Phosphatidylinositol 4-kinases in plasma membranes and Affinity partitioning of liposomes: a model system for membrane purification
Sammanfattning : Polyphosphoinositides, the different phosphorylated variants of the phospholipid phosphatidylinositol (PtdIns), are used in a wide array of intracellular mechanisms in eukaryotic cells. The phosphorylation of PtdIns at carbon D4, catalyzed by phosphatidylinositol 4-kinase, is an important step in the synthesis of several of these molecules. LÄS MER
24. A comparative study on sugar beet root (Na⁺+K⁺)MgATPases isolated by different methods
Sammanfattning : Msiribrane bound (Na+ + K+)MgATPases from homogenates of young sugar beet roots were prepared either by differential centrifugations or by an aqueous two-phase system. The properties of the MgATPases were deter- mined in the preparations. Potassium [K (° Rb )] uptake into roots of intact sugar beets was also studied. LÄS MER
25. A model for membrane organization and protein sorting in the cyanobacterium Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803
Sammanfattning : Cyanobacteria constitute a unique group of eubacteria, possessing outer and plasma membranes as well as internal thylakoid membranes, the site for both photosynthesis and respiration. The combination of sucrose density centrifugation and two-phase partitioning methods leads to purification of different membranes from the cyanobacterium Synechocystis sp. LÄS MER
