  1. 11. Pathophysiological importance of Beta1-Adrenergic receptor autoantibodies in the development of cardiomyopathy and heart failure. Clinically and experimentally

    Författare :Lisa Buvall; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Dilated Cardiomyopathy; Beta1 Adrenergic Receptor; Antibody; Cardiac; Function; Intravenous Immunoglobulin; Immunoadsorption; Cultured Cardiomyocytes; ; rat; mice; GRK2;

    Sammanfattning : Idiopathic Dilated Cardiomyopathy (DCM) is a heart muscle disease of unknown originthat is characterized by ventricular dilation and the impaired contraction of the left orboth ventricles, resulting in progressive heart failure and sudden cardiac death. Antibodiesagainst different cardiac proteins have been found in DCM; they include antibodiesagainst the 1-adrenergic receptor (1AR). LÄS MER

  2. 12. Cardiac effects of prolonged exercise

    Författare :Anders Sahlén; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme; Exercise; Natriuretic Peptides; Troponin;

    Sammanfattning : Long-distance running is growing in popularity. While moderate exercise unquestionably gives major health benefits, the effects of extreme physical exhaustion on cardiac function have been studied less. It has previously been observed that elevated cardiac biomarkers may be observed after exercise, the significance of which is not known. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Atrial fibrillation in cardiac surgery

    Författare :Anders Ahlsson; Anders Englund; Johan Brandt; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Atrial fibrillation; Inflammation; CABG surgery; Survival analysis; Follow-up studies; Ablation; Microwave; Transmurality; Atrial function; Tissue velocity echocardiography; Thoracic surgery; Thoraxkirurgi; Kirurgi; särskilt thoraxkirurgi; Surgery esp. Thoracic and Cardivascular Surgery;

    Sammanfattning : Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common arrhythmia seen in clinical practice. In cardiac surgery, one-third of the patients experience episodes of AF during the first postoperative days (postoperative AF), and patients with preoperative AF (concomitant AF) can be offered ablation procedures in conjunction with surgery, in order to restore ordinary sinus rhythm (SR). 4. 14. Cardiac morphology and dynamics in Swedish elite orienteers : Evaluation of the right and left ventricle by two-dimensional and doppler echocardiography

    Författare :Egil Henriksen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Medical sciences; Echocardiography; sudden unexpected death in young orienteers; right and left ventricular measurements; Doppler echocardiography in athletes; MEDICIN OCH VÅRD; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; Clinical Physiology; klinisk fysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Background. Between 1979 and 1992, 16 (15 males and 1 female) sudden unexpected cardiac deaths(SUCD) were reported in Swedish orienteers. Compared with previous reports in young athletes there was a 10- to 100-fold increase in the sudden death rate in young male elite orienteers during this period. The mean age was 25 years (range 18-32 years). LÄS MER

  5. 15. Cardiac muscle injury in children and experimental animals. Reflections in ECG, especially high-resolution electrocardiography

    Författare :Rolf Bennhagen; Lund Pediatrik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pediatrics; Kardiovaskulära systemet; Cardiovascular system; signal-averaging ECG; ischaemia; cardiac transplantation; Pediatri;

    Sammanfattning : Background and Methods: Signal-averaging ECG (SAECG), a bioelectrical processing method, is a further development of the conventional ECG. SAECG can detect voltage potentials in the microvolt range and provide a noise-reduced determination of QRS duration. Extended frequency spectra can be analysed. LÄS MER
