    Sammanfattning : UDP-sugar metabolizing pyrophosphorylases provide the primary mechanism for de novo synthesis of UDP-sugars, which can then be used for myriads of glycosyltranferase reactions, producing cell wall carbohydrates, sucrose, glycoproteins and glycolipids, as well as many other glycosylated compounds. The pyrophosphorylases can be divided into three families: UDP-Glc pyrophosphorylase (UGPase), UDP-sugar pyrophosphorylase (USPase) and UDP-N-acety lglucosamine pyrophosphorylase (UAGPase), which can be discriminated both by differences in accepted substrate range and amino acid sequences. 2. 7. G protein-coupled receptor regulation: The role of protein interactions and receptor trafficking

    Författare :Caroline Sandén; Drug Target Discovery; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; receptor trafficking; B1 receptor; receptor oligomerization; estrogen; GPER1; G protein-coupled estrogen receptor 1; EP24.15; BK; bradykinin; B1R; B2R; B2 receptor; GPCR; receptor maturation;

    Sammanfattning : The superfamily of G protein-coupled receptors (GPCR) is the largest gene family in the human genome. GPCR-mediated signaling operates in every human cell, and about 50% of existing clinically useful drugs act through GPCR. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Protein Interactions: Electrostatics and Ligand Binding

    Författare :Ingemar André; Biofysikalisk kemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Molecular biophysics; Molekylär biofysik; secondary structure formation; protein GB1; pKa values; pH stability; NMR; electrostatic interactions; M proteins; calbindin D9k; calcium binding; cooperativity; calmodulin; calbindin D28k;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with Ca2+ binding to proteins, electrostatic interactions in and between proteins as well as inter- and intramolecular interactions. A computer program was developed to determine Ca2+ binding constants from experimental titration data of proteins. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Phytoglobins: Elucidation of Structural, Functional and Practical Features of Non-Symbiotic Plant Hemoglobins

    Författare :Simon Christensen; Tillämpad biokemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Hemoglobin; Fytoglobin; Hexakoordination; Karaktärisering; Protein design; Rekombinant protein production; Kromatografi; kristallografi; Dimerisering; Protein Dynamik;

    Sammanfattning : Phytoglobins (Pgb) (plant hemoglobins) are heme-containing proteins and less well known in comparison to the mammalian counterparts hemoglobin (Hb) andmyoglobin (Mb). They share the same secondary structure as other globin-related proteins, six to eight α-helices comprising the myoglobin-fold (Mb-fold) with one prosthetic heme moiety per subunit. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Misfolded superoxide dismutase-1 in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis

    Författare :Per Zetterström; Stefan L Marklund; Lawrence J. Hayward; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; ALS; SOD1; protein misfolding; SOD1 conformation; disulfide-reduced; transgenic mice; cerebrospinal fluid; protein-protein interaction; antibodies; Clinical chemistry; Klinisk kemi; Clinical Chemistry; klinisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a disease in which the motor neurons die in a progressive manner, leading to paralysis and muscle wasting. ALS is always fatal, usually through respiratory failure when the disease reaches muscles needed for breathing. Most cases are sporadic, but approximately 5–10% are familial. LÄS MER
