  1. 6. Model catalysts studied by x-rays, visible and infrared light

    Författare :Stefano Albertin; Synkrotronljusfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; High Energy Surface X-ray Diffraction; X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy; oxidation; Pd 100 ; PdO; Ir 100 ; IrO2; in-situ; operando; Surface Optical Reflectance;

    Sammanfattning : This work is focused on the study of transition metal model catalysts for gas-phase heterogeneous catalysis, studied with light-based in-situ and operando techniques.Metallic model catalysts, such as Palladium (Pd) and Iridium (Ir) single crystals and in minor part deposited Rhodium (Rh), were studied using a combination of x-ray and non x-ray techniques. 2. 7. CO oxidation over platinum-ceria catalysts -- Structural dynamics and reaction mechanisms

    Författare :Mengqiao Di; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; CO oxidation; Platinum catalysts; EXAFS; XANES; Operando spectroscopy; DRIFTS;

    Sammanfattning : Catalytic oxidation of carbon monoxide (CO) continues to be important due to its wide applicability in emission control, in-door air cleaning, fuel cell efficiency enhancement, chemical feedstocks purification etc. The transportation sector emits most of the CO emissions. 3. 8. Spectroscopic characterisation of surface hydroxyls during catalytic methane oxidation

    Författare :Peter Velin; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; XAS; Water inhibition; Supported palladium; Sustainable transports; Methane oxidation; Operando spectroscopy; DRIFTS; Environmental catalysis;

    Sammanfattning : Implementation of methane rich fuels as to develop sustainable vehicle transports requires improved catalytic exhaust aftertreatment technologies to convert engine-out methane emissions to carbon dioxide and water by total oxidation. A main challenge is that water formed during combustion inhibits the methane oxidation reaction even over the most active palladium-based catalysts presently known. LÄS MER

  4. 9. CO Oxidation over Oxide Supported Platinum Catalysts

    Författare :Mengqiao Di; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; low-temperature activity; CO oxidation; operando spectroscopy; water promotion; active catalyst support; nitrogen oxide inhibition;

    Sammanfattning : Catalytic oxidation of carbon monoxide (CO) is one of the most studied reactions that still needs to be improved because of its practical use in the chemical industry including feedstock purification and applications such as emission control, in-door air cleaning, improvement of fuel cell efficiency, etc. Concerning CO emissions, the transportation sector is a large contributor. 5. 10. Studies of catalyst sintering during operating conditions

    Författare :Pooya Tabib Zadeh Adibi; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; nanoparticle sintering; operando spectroscopy; catalyst deactivation; indirect nanoplasmonic sensing; platinum; sintering kinetics;

    Sammanfattning : The damaging effect of pollutants from exhaust gas of combustion engines on the human health and the environment is well recognized. Since the 70s, the three-way catalytic converter (TWC) has substantially improved the urban air quality by simultaneous conversion of CO, NOx and unburned hydrocarbons to O2 , N2 , CO2 and H2O.
