1. Dark matter electron interactions in detector materials
Sammanfattning : Dark Matter (DM) makes up 85% of the matter content of the universe, and its gravitational effects are seen on scales ranging from that of cosmology to that of galactic astrophysics. The nature of DM is, however, unknown. LÄS MER
2. Atomic Scale Degradation of Zirconium Alloys for Nuclear Applications
Sammanfattning : Due to their low thermal neutron capture cross-section, zirconium alloys are widely used in the nuclear industry as fuel cladding and for structural components. The lifetime of the fuel assemblies in the reactors is primarily dictated by the ability of the cladding to withstand oxidation and hydrogen pick-up from the coolant water and radiation damage induced by the neutron flux. 3. Hydrodynamics of Binary Bose-Einstein Condensates and Hydro-elasticity of the Inner Crust of Neutron Stars
Sammanfattning : In the present thesis, “Hydrodynamics of Binary Bose-Einstein Condensates and Hydro-elasticity of the Inner Crust of Neutron Stars”, the hydrodynamic effects, instabilities and superfluid turbulence in binary immiscible ultracold gases, and hydro-elastic macroscopic coupled modes and microscopic structure of the inner layers of the crust of neutron stars, are studied. The ultracold gas dynamics can be realized in the laboratory. LÄS MER
4. Inference on Dark Matter in Effective Field Theories : From XENON1T towards XENONnT: Chiral effective field theory analysis of nuclear recoils, single electrons and uncommon background modelling
Sammanfattning : Cosmological and astronomical observations show that most of the matter in the Universe is dark. This dissertation provides an overview of the dark matter evidence, and focuses on the particle dark matter hypothesis, describing possible particle candidates, concentrating on the Weakly Interactive Massive Particles (WIMPs). 5. Det klyvbara ämnet : Diskursiva ordningar i svensk kärnkraftspolitik 1972-1980
Sammanfattning : This study applies a qualitative discourse theoretical method to analyse the central argumentation in the parliamentary debate on nuclear power in Sweden during 19721980, reconstructed from official documents such as governmental and parliamentary bills, committee reports, parliamentary debate protocols, and official commission reports. Particular concern is directed to the process in which various discursive orders emerging within the political debate tend to have a structuring influence on the political argumentation regarding what can be said, by whom this can be said, and how this can be said.
