  1. 1. New Tools for Analysis of Wood and Pulp Components - Application of MALDI-TOF Mass Spectroscopy and Capillary Zone Electrophoresis

    Författare :Anna Jacobs; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :Capillary zone electrophoresis; carbohydrate composition; degree of acetylation; degree of polymerization; enzymatic hydrolysis; hardwood; hemicellulose; hexenuronic acid; lignin; MALDI-TOF mass spectroscopy; molar mass; molar mass distribution; olig;

    Sammanfattning : In the present thesis, capillary zone electrophoresis (CZE),matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight massspectroscopy (MALDI-MS) and size-exclusion chromatography incombination with off-line MALDI-MS (SEC/MALDI-MS) have beenapplied successfully to the analysis of wood and pulpcomponents.The carbohydrate compositions of pulp and holocellulosesamples, as well as of isolated hemicellulose preparations,were determined employing enzymatic hydrolysis and subsequentanalysis of the saccharides released by CZE. 2. 2. Enamel hypomineralization in permanent first molars. A clinical, histo-morphological and biochemical study

    Författare :Birgitta Jälevik; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Adolescent; Calcium Metabolism Disorders; complications; Child; Child; Preschool; Dental Enamel; chemistry; Dental Enamel Hypoplasia; epidemiology; etiology; metabolism; pathology; Female; Humans; Male; Molar; pathology; Prevalence; Respiratory Insufficiency; complications; Spectrometry; Mass; Secondary Ion; Sweden; epidemiology;

    Sammanfattning : Hypomineralization in the permanent first molars was common in a group of 516 Swedish 8-year-old children. Ninety-five children (18.4%) had at least one molar with demarcated opacity. The incisors frequently displayed opacities concomitantly. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Asymmetrical Flow Field-Flow Fractionation and Multiangle Light Scattering for Molar Mass Analysis of Polysaccharide Derivatives

    Författare :Mats Andersson; Industriell Produktion; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; polysaccharide derivatives ethylhydroxyethyl cellulose; molar mass analysis; asymmetrical flow field-flow fractionation; multiangle light scattering; polymer size distribution; Polymer technology; biopolymers; Polymerteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Molar mass and molar mass distribution of polymers are parameters of fundamental importance as they influence the performance of the polymer in applications. Polysaccharide derivatives are a class of polymers that have attracted significant scientific and commercial interest as they can be manufactured from a wide range of abundant sources in nature and thereby often are both cheap and biocompatible. 4. 4. New Mass Spectrometric Methods for Structure Analysis of Carboxymethyl Cellulose

    Författare :Jonas Enebro; Sigbritt Karlsson; Dane Momcilovic; Ulf Germgård; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; carboxymethyl cellulose; substituent distribution; rheology; enzyme hydrolysis; cellulase; permethylation; liquid chromatography; MALDI; ESI; mass spectrometry; Polymer chemistry; Polymerkemi;

    Sammanfattning : Carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) is a cellulose derivative, made from cellulose by introduction of carboxymethyl groups along the molecules. The properties of CMC are affected by several parameters where the molar mass and molar mass distribution, degree of substitution (DS) and the distribution pattern along, and between, the cellulose molecules are the most prominent.
