1. Home Mechanical Ventilation in Sweden. Demography, Indications, Clinical Effects and Survival
Sammanfattning : Home mechanical ventilation in patients with chronic respiratory failure secondary to several different diseases has become widely acceptable as the provision of ventilatory support can provide symptomatic relief and increase life expectancy. Aims: To study the selection criteria underlying the initiation of home mechanical ventilation and to quantify the effects of in relation to blood gases and lung function; to examine temporal changes in treatment prevalence in Sweden; to study survival and causes of death and demonstrate possible related impact factors. 2. Enamel hypomineralization in permanent first molars. A clinical, histo-morphological and biochemical study
Sammanfattning : Hypomineralization in the permanent first molars was common in a group of 516 Swedish 8-year-old children. Ninety-five children (18.4%) had at least one molar with demarcated opacity. The incisors frequently displayed opacities concomitantly. LÄS MER
3. Vitamin D insufficiency in cystic fibrosis : prevalence, consequences and intervention
Sammanfattning : Cystic fibrosis (CF) is the most common life-shortening autosomal recessive disease in Caucasians. The major cause of morbidity and mortality is lung disease, characterized by a vicious circle of infection and inflammation. LÄS MER
4. Common respiratory virus infections in cystic fibrosis : from immunity to vaccine
Sammanfattning : Cystic fibrosis is the most common lethal monogenetic disease in Caucasians. It is caused by mutations in the cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator protein which is responsible for appropriate ion and water transport across epithelial cell membranes. LÄS MER
5. Gastroduodenal epithelial transport in patients with cystic fibrosis
Sammanfattning : Cystic fibrosis (CF) is an inherited disease where respiratory failure due to chronic lung infection is the major cause of death. A defective protein, cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) alters chloride epithelial transport. LÄS MER
