    Sammanfattning : This thesis is about attitudes and practices of foreign tourists in Ólymbos, a village in the north of the Greek island of Kárpathos. Based upon several periods of fieldwork from 1999 to 2005, it focuses on the discomfort with tourism and the tourist role which is shared by many holidaymakers, and which also can be found in various types of representations of the area.     Sammanfattning : The purpose of the study is to analyse the relationship between the capitalist hegemonic order and the mass media, with the latter restricted to two elite newspapers (Swedish DN and Slovenian Delo) and the selection of news materials from three bodies of international media coverage: NATO’s military intervention in former Yugoslavia, 1999, the political demonstrations against the IMF and the World Bank in Prague, 2000, and 9/11, 2001.     Sammanfattning : Drawing on in-depth interviews with women in Sweden and the Øresund region who have publicly positioned themselves as believing Muslim feminists, this study explores what is involved in their self-positioning, how they conceptualize Muslim feminism, and construct its meaning. The accounts of the participants in this study revolve around three broad themes: First, the aspiration for self-representation as Muslims, second, the negotiations on gender equality and Islam, and third, the negotiation between internal and external religious authority.
