  1. 1. Sustainable Land and Water Management for a Greener Future : Large-scale insights in support of Agroecological Intensification

    Författare :Luigi Piemontese; Fernando Jaramillo; Maria Cristina Rulli; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; vetenskap om hållbar utveckling; Sustainability Science;

    Sammanfattning : The challenge of producing more food in times of climate change, degraded land and scares water resources is calling for a radical transformation of agriculture. Sustainable agricultural intensification is the process of increasing the productivity of farms while preserving functional ecosystems. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Strategic technology decision-making in Swedish large-scale forestry

    Författare :Rikard Jonsson; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Technological development gives Swedish forest companies and forest owners’associations opportunities to maintain competitiveness in the highly cost-sensitivemarket for forest products. Development efforts are typically performed throughunstructured decision processes. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Sink or source? : uncertainties in large scale model predictions of forest soil organic carbon dynamics

    Författare :Carina Ortiz; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Soil organic carbon (SOC) is the largest terrestrial carbon pool and small changes in this pool may affect the global carbon balance, especially atmospheric concentration of CO2. Within the context of climate policy, the quantification of these changes is important, as pool changes may affect a country's national greenhouse gas budget. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Peasants and Stock Markets : Pathways from Collective Farming in the Post-Soviet Grain-Belt

    Författare :Brian Kuns; Anders Wästfelt; Mats Widgren; Jennifer Clapp; Stockholms universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : What happened in the post-Soviet, European grain-belt after collective farms were dissolved and in what way can we say that collective farm legacies influence agrarian developments in this region today? These are the main questions of this thesis, which is a work of critical human geography, but is also inspired by theories, methods and approaches from the social sciences, broadly defined. Territorially, the focus is Ukraine, but several articles in this thesis take a wider geographic perspective beyond Ukraine, in particular taking into account the role of Nordic investors in the agrarian sector in Ukraine and Russia. 5. 5. Cognition and decision-making in adoption of agricultural decision support systems : the case of precision agriculture

    Författare :Christina Lundström; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Precision agriculture (PA) has a central role to play in a sustainable intensification trajectory of agriculture, including increased yields and decreased environmental impact. Although grounded in advanced technologies this still implies that the individual farmer will have to develop knowledge that is complex, diverse and local. LÄS MER
