  1. 1. Factors Related to the Formation of Gas Porosity in Grey Cast Iron: Investigation of Core Gas Evolution and Gas Concentrations in Molten Iron

    Författare :Jessica Orlenius; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; core binders; Gas porosity; hydrogen; grey iron; gas absorption; nitrogen; oxygen; gas evolution rate; green sand; mould filling; gas volume; gas solubility;

    Sammanfattning : Since gas porosity is a major casting problem, it is of greatest importance to increase the knowledge about the foundry process in order to minimise the presence of gas porosity and thereby improving the casting quality. Gas porosity is generally considered to originate from gases precipitated during solidification of iron and from entrained gas picked up by the metal during the mould filling. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Gas-Phase Protein Structure Under the Computational Microscope : Hydration, Titration, and Temperature

    Författare :Erik Marklund; David van der Spoel; Albert Heck; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Molecular dynamics; gas phase; proteins; micelles; proton transfer; Grothuss mechanism; kinetics; Physics; Fysik; Physics with specialization in Biophysics; Fysik med inriktning mot biofysik;

    Sammanfattning : Although the native environment of the vast majority of proteins is a complex aqueous solution, like the interior of a cell, many analysis methods for assessing chemical and physical properties of biomolecules require the sample to be aerosolized; that is, transferred to the gas-phase. An important example is electrospray-ionization mass spectrometry, which can provide a wide range of information about e. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Silicon carbide field-effect devices studied as gas sensors for exhaust gas monitoring

    Författare :Peter Tobias; Ignaz Eisele; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; silicon carbide; high temperature; gas sensors; field effect devices; MISdevices; Schottky diodes; experimental design; reaction kinetics; mass transport; car exhaust; multipoint injection; response times; cylinder specific; on-board diagnosis;

    Sammanfattning : Metal-insulator-silicon carbide (MIS) structures have been studied as gas sensors. We have investigated how the sensors detect gases, how fast they do that, and how they could be used for exhaust gas monitoring.We have prepared simple field-effect devices, MIS-capacitors and Schottky diodes, on silicon carbide with platinum gates. 4. 4. Conceptual Thermodynamic Cycle and Aerodynamic Gas Turbine Design - on an Oxy-fuel Combined Cycle

    Författare :ADRIAN NILSSON DAHLQVIST; Kraftverksteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Gas turbine; combined cycle; conceptual design; aerodynamic; mid-span design; through-flow design; oxy-fuel; SCOC-CC; OCC; gas turbine; Combined cycle; conceptual design; aerodynamic; mid-span design; Through-flow design; Oxy-fuel; SCOC-CC; OCC;

    Sammanfattning : The world is today facing a serious problem with global warming, which is heading towards an appallingly high temperature level. The greater part of the overall climate science community agree that global warming is caused by the greenhouse effect, which depends largely on emitted CO2 emissions from the combustion of fossil fuel. 5. 5. Innovative Contact Free Sensors for Metallurgical Process Control

    Författare :Donald Malmberg; Stuart M. Millman; Högskolan i Halmstad; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; microwave spectroscopy; laser; TDLAS; high temperature; gas; slag; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; spectroscopy; slag analysis; high temperatures; Mät- och instrumenteringsteknik; Instrumentation technology; TDLAS; microwave; laser; Fysicumarkivet A:2003:Malmberg;

    Sammanfattning : The steel- and metal industry has an extensive production processing comprising many different process steps of solid, gaseous and liquid nature. Thus it is obvious that a number of different measurement technologies must be used to collect and evaluate key physical parameters which are necessary to control the production processes. LÄS MER
