  1. 1. A Study of the Initial Mould Filling during Up-hill Ingot Casting

    Författare :Line Hallgren; Pär Jönsson; Anders Tilliander; Seppo Louhenkilpi; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; swirling flow; up-hill teeming; nozzle; casting; fluid flow; modelling; CFD; LDA; swirl; ingot casting; filling; red eye;

    Sammanfattning : The fluid flow in the mould during up-hill teeming is of great importance for the quality of the cast ingot and thereby the quality of the final steel products. At the early stage of the filling of an up-hill teeming mould, liquid steel flows with a high velocity from the runner into the mould. LÄS MER

  2. 2. A Model System for Powder Injection Moulding – Physical Properties and Mould Filling Analysis

    Författare :Henrik Persson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; processing conditions; thermal properties; computer simulations; rheology; powder injection moulding; mould filling; jetting;

    Sammanfattning : ABSTRACTPowder injection moulding (PIM) is an important and accepted industrial technique for producing net-shaped components which combines the advantages of injection moulding and powder metallurgy. The properties of the feedstock, a mixture of powder and binder system (often based on a thermoplastic polymer), strongly influence the process. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Factors Related to the Formation of Gas Porosity in Grey Cast Iron: Investigation of Core Gas Evolution and Gas Concentrations in Molten Iron

    Författare :Jessica Orlenius; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; core binders; Gas porosity; hydrogen; grey iron; gas absorption; nitrogen; oxygen; gas evolution rate; green sand; mould filling; gas volume; gas solubility;

    Sammanfattning : Since gas porosity is a major casting problem, it is of greatest importance to increase the knowledge about the foundry process in order to minimise the presence of gas porosity and thereby improving the casting quality. Gas porosity is generally considered to originate from gases precipitated during solidification of iron and from entrained gas picked up by the metal during the mould filling. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Processing Aspects for Improving Mechanical Properties in Aluminium Castings

    Författare :Jonas Bäckman; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Aluminium; microstructure; mechanical properties; gradient solidification; mould filling; filter; filter parameter; casting simulation; TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP;

    Sammanfattning : The relation between the process and mechanical properties in aluminium alloys for castings has been examined. The relation was hard to define since the spread in data was severe due to defects created in the casting process. To avoid such defects a gradient solidification equipment was built. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Manufacturing and Characterization of Filled Polymeric Systems

    Författare :Henrik Oxfall; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; PS; hybrid composites; EBA; computer simulations; graphene; rheology; mould filling; graphite nanoplatelets; powder injection moulding; electrical conductivity; elongational flow; thermal properties; jetting;

    Sammanfattning : The physical properties are changed if fillers are added to a polymeric material. In this work a highly filled model system for power injection moulding (PIM) and graphite nanoplatelet (GNP) based nanocomposites have been manufactured and characterized. LÄS MER
