  1. 1. Exahaled NO and small airway function in asthma and cystic fibrosis

    Författare :Christina Keen; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; asthma; exhaled NO; children; cystic fibrosis; flow independent exhaled nitric oxide; multiple breath inert gas washout; polyunsaturated fatty acids;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Asthma and cystic fibrosis (CF) are chronic inflammatory airway disorders known to involve the peripheral airways. Non-invasive tests sensitive to peripheral airway function and inflammation are therefore of high priority. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Studies on nitric oxide in the respiratory system

    Författare :Ulla Schedin; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :nitric oxide; endogenous; respiratory system; neonate; prematureinfant; animal; primate; elephant; chemiluminescence; electrochemical; nitrogen dioxide; trachea; nose; ;

    Sammanfattning : Nitric oxide (NO) is formed in biological tissues and has regulatory functions in many organ systems. Endogenous NO has been found in exhaled air and NO is considered to have effects on the pulmonary circulation and bronchial tone, and to be one of the mediators for the circulatory adaptation at birth. 3. 3. Airborne nitric oxide : inflammatory marker and aerocrine messenger in man

    Författare :Jon Lundberg; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :ARDS; asthma; cystic fibrosis; cystitis; exhaled air; inflammatory bowel disease; inhaled nitric oxide; Kartagener s syndrome; nitric oxide synthase; sinusitis; ;

    Sammanfattning : We have used a chemiluminescence technique to measure gaseous nitric oxide (NO) directly in hollow organs of humans. NO production was studied in the airways of healthy controls and patients with chronic inflammatory airway disease, in the stomach of healthy subjects, in the colon of patients with inflammatory bowel disease, and in the urinary bladder of patients with cystitis.
