21. MRI assessment of haemophilic arthropathy
Sammanfattning : Haemophilia is a recessive genetic bleeding disorder in which coagulation time is prolonged due to the absence or malfunction of either of the serum proteins Factor VIII or IX. Joint destruction following repeated haemarthroses is the main cause of morbidity in haemophiliacs, and such arthropathy can be prevented or postponed by implementing prophylactic therapy with factor concentrate at an early age. 22. III-V Nanowires for High-Speed Electronics
Sammanfattning : III-V compound materials have long been used in RF applications in high-electron-mobility-transistors (HEMTs) and bipolar-junction-transistors (BJTs). Now, III-V is also being viewed as a material candidate for replacing silicon in the n-channel in CMOS processes for increased drive currents and reduced power consumption in future nodes. LÄS MER
23. Arterial Thrombosis in Factor V Leiden or Activated Protein C Resistance. Clinical and Experimental Studies
Sammanfattning : Abstract The last two decades has seen an avalanche of studies establishing Activated protein C (APC) resistance due to Factor V Leiden mutation as the most prevalent genetic risk factor, yet known, for venous thromboembolism. This has been documented in 20-60% of patients with deep vein thrombosis (DVT). LÄS MER
24. Studies of the pathogenesis of hemolytic uremic syndrome and thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura
Sammanfattning : This study investigated the pathogenesis of hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS) and thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP). (1) The relative roles of lipopolysaccharide and Shiga-like toxin-2 were studied in a mouse model of Escherichia coli O157:H7 infection. LÄS MER
25. Growth factor regulation of the urokinase plasminogen activator (uPA) system in human endometrium, and the significance of uPA receptor activation in endometrial angiogenesis
Sammanfattning : The purpose of this thesis was to examine the role of growth factors and the urokinase plasminogen activator (uPA) system in human endometrial angiogenesis. Growth factors as well as progesterone increased expression of the main inhibitor of uPA (PAI-1) in primary cultures of endometrial stromal cells. LÄS MER
