1. Time-Frequency Analysis in Attosecond Spectroscopy
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with ultrafast dynamics of electronic processes in rare gas atoms. The processes we explore include photoemission, where we time the emission of electrons moving away from the atomic core following ionization by a photon; and auto-ionization, where the atom spontaneously releases an electron wave-packet following photo-excitation. 2. Generation and metrology of ultrashort pulses and their application in attosecond science
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the dynamical processes in atoms and small molecules initiated by the absorption of ultrashort, coherent light pulses. The studied phenomena takeplace on the femtosecond (1 fs = 10−15 s) and attosecond (1 as = 10−18 s) timescales and critically depend on the properties of the light fields that drive them. LÄS MER
3. Attosecond interferometry: techniques and spectroscopy
Sammanfattning : The interaction between an intense laser pulse and a gas medium leads to the emission of coherent bursts of light in the extreme ultraviolet range. This process, known as high-order harmonic generation, has today, almost three decades after its discovery, developed into a reliable source of extremely short (on the order of 100 as) pulses of electromagnetic radiation, with a wide range of applications in the atomic, molecular and optical sciences. 4. Time-Resolved Attosecond Spectroscopy of He Using COLTRIMS
Sammanfattning : Tunable ultrafast lasers are becoming a standard tool for probing and controlling the dynamics of atoms, molecules and chemical reactions. This thesis is a contribution to a large, ongoing effort to make spectroscopic tools for inducing and controlling, in real time, the natural processes which occur on the femto and attosecond times scales.
