  1. 11. Effective Models for Simulation of Thermal Stratification and Mixing Induced by Steam Injection into a Large Pool of Water

    Författare :Hua Li; Pavel Kudinov; Michele Andreani; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Thermal Stratification; Mixing; Pressure Suppression Pool; Containment; Thermal Hydraulic; GOTHIC; Light Water Reactor; Fysik; Physics;

    Sammanfattning : Steam venting and condensation in a large pool of water creates both a source of heat and a source of momentum. Complex interplay between these two sources leads to either thermal stratification or mixing. LÄS MER

  2. 12. The management of common-pool resources : theoretical essays and empirical evidence

    Författare :Ingela Ternström; Handelshögskolan i Stockholm; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : A large part of the poor people in the world is dependent on local natural resources for their survival. Often, these resources are managed as common-pool resources; that is, they are used in common by a limited group of people, who are dependent on each other in their use of the resource. LÄS MER

  3. 13. The Effective Convectivity Model for Simulation and Analysis of Melt Pool Heat Transfer in a Light Water Reactor Pressure Vessel Lower Head

    Författare :Chi Thanh Tran; Tomas Lefvert; Harri Tuomisto; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; light water reactor; hypothetical severe accident; accident progression; accident scenario; core melt pool; heat transfer; turbulent natural convection; heat transfer coefficient; phase change; mushy zone; crust; lower plenum; analytical model; effective convectivity model; CFD simulation; Thermal energy engineering; Termisk energiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Severe accidents in a Light Water Reactor (LWR) have been a subject of intense research for the last three decades. The research in this area aims to reach understanding of the inherent physical phenomena and reduce the uncertainties in their quantification, with the ultimate goal of developing models that can be applied to safety analysis of nuclear reactors, and to evaluation of the proposed accident management schemes for mitigating the consequences of severe accidents. 5. 15. Phenotypic plasticity and local adaptation in island populations of Rana temporaria

    Författare :Martin Lind; Frank Johansson; Juha Merilä; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Costs of plasticity; Developmental threshold; FST; Local adaptation; Phenotypic plasticity; Pool drying; QST; Freshwater ecology; Limnisk ekologi; zooekologi; Animal Ecology;

    Sammanfattning : Phenotypic plasticity is the ability of a genotype to express different phenotypes in different environments. Despite its common occurrence, few have investigated differences in plasticity between populations, the selection pressures responsible for it, and costs and constraints associated with it. LÄS MER
