1. Climate change impacts on production and dynamics of fish populations
Sammanfattning : Ongoing climate change is predicted to increase water temperatures and export of terrestrial dissolved matter (TDOM) to aquatic ecosystems influencing ecosystem productivity, food web dynamics and production of top consumers. Ecosystem productivity is mainly determined by the rates of primary production (GPP) in turn controlled by nutrients, light availability and temperature, while temperature alone affect vital rates like consumption and metabolic rates and maintenance requirements of consumers. 3. Fuel Cells and Biogas
Sammanfattning : This thesis concerns biogas-operated fuel cells. Fuel cell technology may contribute to more efficient energy use, reduce emissions and also perhaps revolutionize current energy systems. The technology is, however, still immature and has not yet been implemented as dominant in any application or niche market. LÄS MER
4. Railway Infrastructure Robustness : Attributes, evaluation, assurance and improvement
Sammanfattning : According to the European program Horizon 2020, multifaceted challenges in transportinfrastructure include 1) making infrastructure more resilient to keep pace with the increasing mobility needs; 2) reducing the impact of infrastructure on the environment;and 3) dealing with declining resources to maintain and upgrade transport infrastructure. New design and maintenance approaches must be developed to handle these issues, ascurrent methods are inadequate. LÄS MER
5. Getting up when falling down : reducing fall risk factors after stroke through an exercise program
Sammanfattning : The purpose of this thesis was to identify fall risk individuals (+55) after stroke by validating a fall risk index and in post-stroke individuals with high risk of falls evaluate the impact of an intervention program on fall risk factors.A previously developed fall risk index was validated, modified and re-validated.
