11. Low-frequency noise characterization, evaluation and modeling of advanced Si- and SiGe-based CMOS transistors
Sammanfattning : A wide variety of novel complementary-metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) devices that are strong contenders for future high-speed and low-noise RF circuits have been evaluated by means of static electrical measurements and low-frequency noise characterizations in this thesis. These novel field-effect transistors (FETs) include (i) compressively strained SiGe channel pMOSFETs, (ii) tensile strained Si nMOSFETs, (iii) MOSFETs with high-k gate dielectrics, (iv) metal gate and (v) silicon-on-insulator (SOI) devices. 12. Noise Aspects of some Si-based One Port Devices and Carbon Nanotubes
Sammanfattning : The p-n junctions and Schottky diodes based on Si1-xGex and SiC are of great importance in modern electronic applications, such as microwave detectors and mixers. Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) have appeared recently as an attractive new class of materials with a reduced dimensionality, and proposed as building blocks for nanoelectronic technology. LÄS MER
13. Noise Properties of the Single Electron Transistor
Sammanfattning : The Single Electron Transistor (SET) is a sensitive electrometer with a charge sensitivityultimately limited by noise. In this thesis we present measurements of noiseproperties and charge sensitivity of the radio-frequency Single Electron Transistor. LÄS MER
14. Optimum GaN HEMT Oscillator Design Targeting Low Phase Noise
Sammanfattning : The thesis considers design of low phase noise oscillators, given the boundary condition of the used technology. Important conditions are the power handling of the active device, device noise floor, the quality factor of the resonator, bias settings, and low frequency noise. LÄS MER
15. MMIC-based Low Phase Noise Millimetre-wave Signal Source Design
Sammanfattning : Wireless technology for future communication systems has been continuously evolving to meet society’s increasing demand on network capacity. The millimetre-wave frequency band has a large amount of bandwidth available, which is a key factor in enabling the capability of carrying higher data rates. LÄS MER
