  1. 1. Molecular genetics of B- and T-lymphocyte development

    Författare :Ingela Wikström; Dan Holmberg; Inga-Lill Mårtensson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; lymphocyte development; Dmu protein; transcription factor; bHLH; E2-2; T cell; B cell; marginal zone; Medical genetics; Medicinsk genetik;

    Sammanfattning : Lymphocytes are essential for the generation of specific immunity. Development of B cells in the bone marrow and T cells in the thymus have several analogous features, and are tightly regulated processes. Even though there is an increasing amount of information concerning lymphopoiesis, a lot of questions remain. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Calcium regulation and functions of basic Helix-Loop-Helix transcription factors

    Författare :Juha Saarikettu; Thomas Grundström; Dan Holmberg; Mikael Sigvardsson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Molecular biology; calcium; calmodulin; calretinin; transcription; bHLH; E-protein; E2-2; Molekylärbiologi; Molecular biology; Molekylärbiologi; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Sammanfattning : The members of the ubiquitously expressed E-protein subfamily of basic Helix-Loop-Helix (bHLH) transcription factors, E12/E47, SEF2-1 and HEB, have important roles as regulators of gene expression in various differentiation processes, including lymphocyte development and myogenesis. In myogenesis, E-proteins are proposed to function as obligate heterodimer partners for members of the MyoD family of muscle-specific bHLH transcription factors. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Regulation and functions of basic helix-loop-helix transcription factors in neuroblastoma cells

    Författare :Paula Persson; Institutionen för translationell medicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; oncology; Cytology; Id; Olf EBF; ubiquilin-1; HASH-1; bHLH; Neuroblastoma; neuronal differentiation; cancer; onkologi; cancerology; Cytologi;

    Sammanfattning : Neuroblastoma is a childhood tumor derived from primordial neural crest cells. The tumor cells exhibit a phenotype similar to that of developing neuroblasts, which indicates that the tumor arises due to perturbed differentiation of the sympathetic nervous system. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Gene regulation in normal and malignant B-lineage cells

    Författare :Lucía Peña Pérez; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : B-cells are the central players of humoral immunity. It is known that their development is orchestrated by a small group of transcription factors including the E-proteins and the FOXO proteins, yet this process is far from completely understood. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Transcriptional regulation in neuroblastoma cells under normoxic and hypoxic conditions

    Författare :Annika Jögi; Institutionen för translationell medicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; oncology; cancerology; Cytologi; onkologi; cancer; Cytology; HIF-2; HIF-1; hypoxia; Id; HES-1; bHLH; Neuroblastoma; neuronal differentiation;

    Sammanfattning : The childhood malignancy neuroblastoma develops from early cells of the sympathetic nervous system (SNS), and the tumors often produce catecholamines. Neuroblastoma cells retain several characteristics of immature sympathetic cells including the expression of a number of transcription factors normally expressed during embryogenesis. LÄS MER
