  1. 1. Mechanical modelling of blade forming and drainage of flocculated suspensions

    Författare :Claes Holmqvist; Anders Dahlkild; Douglas Bousfield; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Applied mechanics; blade forming; pressure distribution; interaction; suction; drainage; Teknisk mekanik; Engineering mechanics; Teknisk mekanik;

    Sammanfattning : A method has been developed for flexible modelling of multi-component twin-wire blade formers. Features such as suction devices, loadable blades, curved blades, and partial contact between the blades and the forming fabrics are easily incorporated. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Effects of plasticizing and crosslinking on coatings based on blends of starch-PVOH and starch-lignin

    Författare :Asif Javed; Henrik Ullsten; Peter Rättö; Lars Järnström; Douglas Bousfield; Karlstads universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Citric acid; Glycerol; Polyethylene glycol; Barrier coatings; Starch; Lignin; Mechanical properties; Poly vinyl alcohol ; Creasing; Adhesion; Cross-linking; Extrusion coating; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : A barrier material is usually needed on a fiber-based food package to protect the packed food from gases and moisture and thus maintain its quality. Barrier materials presently used in food packaging applications are mostly petroleum-based polymers. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Spontaneous imbibition and colloidal aspects of inkjet printing

    Författare :Asaf Oko; Per M. Claesson; Agne Swerin; Douglas Bousfield; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Water-based inkjet is one of the most abundant and versatile digital printing technologies. The subject of this thesis work is processes that take place once an inkjet drop lands on the surface of a porous printing media, with focus on liquid penetration due to capillary action (spontaneous imbibition) and aggregation of ink components. 4. 4. Ink Film Splitting Acoustics in Offset Printing

    Författare :Joakim Voltaire; Per Claesson; Douglas Bousfield; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Surface and colloid chemistry; Yt- och kolloidkemi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis claims a relationship between the film splitting sound emission from the printing press nip and the dynamic interaction occurring there between ink, fountain solution and substrate in offset lithography. The film splitting sound derives from the cavitation formed by the pressure drop in the second half of the print nip flow passage. LÄS MER
