21. An Edgeworth-type Expansion of the Distribution of a Likelihood-based Classifier for Single Time-point Measurements and Growth Curves
Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on approximating misclassification errors of likelihood-based classifiers considering two cases. The first case assumes the allocation of a new observation into two normal populations. LÄS MER
22. Metacarpophalangeal pattern profile analysis in hypochondroplasia, dyschondrosteosis and Turner syndrome
Sammanfattning : The skeletal system, including the hand skeleton, is affected by a large number of skeletal dysplasias. Clinical and radiological abnormalities of the skeletal system in hypochondroplasia (HCP), dyschondrosteosis (LWD) and Turner syndrome (TS) may be rather subtle and difficult to recognize, particularly in young individuals, which can lead to an unnecessary delay of the diagnosis. 23. Multivariate data analysis of metabolomic multi-tissue samples
Sammanfattning : Multi-tissue metabolomics involves characterisation of the metabolome of several tissue types. The metabolome consists of small chemical entities of low molecular weight called metabolites, which are constantly produced and interchanged through a vast variety of biochemical reactions occurring throughout living organisms. 24. Medical knowledge extraction : application of data analysis methods to support clinical decisions
Sammanfattning : In building computer based clinical decision support extensive data analysis is sought to acquire all the medical knowledge needed to formulate the decision rules. This study explores, compares and discusses several approaches to knowledge extraction from medical data. LÄS MER
25. Mining Speech Sounds : Machine Learning Methods for Automatic Speech Recognition and Analysis
Sammanfattning : This thesis collects studies on machine learning methods applied to speech technology and speech research problems. The six research papers included in this thesis are organised in three main areas. The first group of studies were carried out within the European project Synface. LÄS MER
