1. Cell-matrix interactions : master regulators of cancer cell fate?
Sammanfattning : The development and homeostasis of a multicellular organism require fundamental biological processes like cell proliferation, cell differentiation, cell migration, and controlled cell death. The extracellular matrix (ECM) guides many of these functions, via cell-matrix interactions that function as mechanical and biochemical signaling hubs. LÄS MER
2. The mechanism of integrin inactivation and cell signalling induced by c-erbB2, an oncogenic growth factor receptor
Sammanfattning : Overexpression of the oncogenic growth factor receptor, c-erbB2, is linked with poor prognosis in breast carcinomas and is used as a target for therapeutic strategies. To elucidate the mechanism underlying the tumorigenic action of an elevated c-erbB2 level, leading to homodimerization and activation, we have used an inducible system where a hybrid receptor consisting of the cytoplasmic and transmembrane domains of c-erbB2 fused to the extracellular domain of the trkA NGF receptor has been stably transfected into an immortalized mammary epithelial cell line. 3. Effects of invasin and YopH of Yersinia pseudotuberculosis on host cell signaling
Sammanfattning : Integrins are a large family of membrane-spanning heterodimeric (αβ) receptors that bind to ligands on other cells or to extracellular matrix (ECM) proteins. These receptors mediate bidirectional signaling over the cell membrane to induce signaling cascades mediating functions as cell adhesion, spreading and migration. LÄS MER
4. Laminin G Domains, their Receptors, and Activation of Intracellular Pathways
Sammanfattning : Basement membranes are sheet like structures underlying epithelial, endothelial, adipocytes, muscle and peripheral nerve cells. Laminins are an important family of basement membrane proteins implicated in various biological functions through their interactions with cell surface receptors. Laminins are trimers composed of a, b and g chains. LÄS MER
5. Regulation of the cytoskeleton and the adhesiveness of intestinal epithelial cells by leukotriene D4
Sammanfattning : Leukotrienes belong to a family of biologically active conjugated trienes that are formed from arachidonic acid via the 5-lipoxygenase pathway and are important mediators of inflammatory reactions. The CysLT1 receptor that specifically serves as receptor for leukotriene D4 (LTD4) has been identified as a G-protein coupled receptor. LÄS MER
