  1. 1. Protein tyrosine kinases and the regulation of signalling and adhesion in drosophila melanogaster

    Författare :Caroline Grabbe; Ruth Palmer; Tapio Heino; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Drosophila; Signalling; Adhesion; Protein Tyrosine Kinase; Development; Endocytosis; Molecular biology; Molekylärbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : In order to build a multi-cellular organism and to regulate cellular functions, cells need to communicate with each other, as well as tightly regulate their behaviour in response to environmental changes. For these purposes all eukaryotic cells express a large number of membrane spanning receptors that either themselves contain catalytic activity or via cytoplasmic effector enzymes, function to transmit “signals” from the cell exterior to induce appropriate responses within the cell. 2. 2. Regulation of the cytoskeleton and the adhesiveness of intestinal epithelial cells by leukotriene D4

    Författare :Ramin Massoumi; Institutionen för translationell medicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; oncology; Cytology; patologisk anatomi; Patologi allmän ; pathological anatomy; General pathology; PKC; vinculin; actin filament; focal adhesion; LTD4; integrin; cancerology; Cytologi; onkologi; cancer; Biochemistry; Metabolism; Biokemi; metabolism;

    Sammanfattning : Leukotrienes belong to a family of biologically active conjugated trienes that are formed from arachidonic acid via the 5-lipoxygenase pathway and are important mediators of inflammatory reactions. The CysLT1 receptor that specifically serves as receptor for leukotriene D4 (LTD4) has been identified as a G-protein coupled receptor. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Molecular Mechanisms of Action of Histidine-rich Glycoprotein in Angiogenesis Inhibition

    Författare :Chunsik Lee; Lena Claesson-Welsh; Jan Palmblad; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Cell and molecular biology; anti-angiogenesis; angiogenesis inhibitor; endothelial cell; histidine-rich glycoprotein; focal adhesion; tumor-associated macrophages; VEGF; MMP; Cell- och molekylärbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Angiogenesis, de novo synthesis of blood vessels from the pre-existing vasculature, is required both during embryonic development and in pathophysiological conditions. In particular, tumor growth needs new capillary vessels in order to both deliver oxygen and nutrients and to remove toxin and metabolites. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Studies on the transmembrane signaling of β1 integrins

    Författare :Annika Armulik; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biochemistry; Integrin β1; signaling; transmembrane domain; CAS; focal adhesion kinase; Biokemi; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Medical Biochemistry; medicinsk biokemi;

    Sammanfattning : Integrins are heterodimeric cell surface receptors, composed of an α and a β subunit, mainly binding for extracellular matrix proteins. lntegrin subunit β1 can combine with at least 12 a subunits and thus form the biggest subfamily within the integrin family. LÄS MER

  5. 5. The Tyrosine Kinase GTK : Signal Transduction and Biological Function

    Författare :Cecilia Annerén; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cell biology; Protein tyrosine kinases; GTK; SHB; proliferation; survival; differentiation; β cells; pancreatectomy; cytokines; diabetes; PC12 cells; NGF; streptozotocin; focal adhesion kinase; RAP1; Cellbiologi; Cell biology; Cellbiologi; medicinsk cellbiologi; Medical Cell Biology;

    Sammanfattning : Protein tyrosine kinases play an important role in the regulation of various cellular processes such asgrowth, differentiation and survival. GTK, a novel SRC-like cytoplasmic tyrosine kinase, was recently cloned from a mouse insulinoma cell line and the present work was conducted in order to find a biological function of GTK in insulin producing and neuronal cells.
