6. Atrial function and loading conditions in athletes
Sammanfattning : Intensive training is associated with hemodynamic changes that typically induce an enlargement of cardiac chamber. Despite LA dilatation in athletes has been interpreted as a benign adaptation, little evidence is available. LÄS MER
7. Structural concrete elements subjected to air blast loading
Sammanfattning : In the design of structures to resist the effects of air blast loading or other severe dynamic loads it is vital to have large energy absorbing capabilities, and structural elements with large plastic deformation capacities are therefore desirable. Structures need to be designed for ductile response in order to prevent partial or total collapse due to locally failed elements. LÄS MER
8. Hyaluronan and Renal Fluid Handling : Studies during Normal and Pathological Conditions of Renal Function
Sammanfattning : The kidney is the major organ responsible for the regulation of the composition and volume of the body fluids, which is essential for homeostasis. The glycosaminoglycan hyaluronan (HA), with extreme water-binding capacity, is present in the interstitium of the kidney with a heterogenous distribution. LÄS MER
9. Traumatic high-load injuries in the adolescent spine. Clinical, radiological and experimental studies
Sammanfattning : Background: Disc degeneration and other radiological abnormalities are highly frequent among young athletes in sports with great demands on the back. It has also been reported that athletes with these abnormalities have more back pain than other athletes and non-athletes. LÄS MER
10. Hemodynamic and cardiometabolic studies in patients with distributive circulatory dysfunctions : with special reference to the effects of the beta-1-adrenoreceptor agonist prenalterol
Sammanfattning : A total of 49 patients were studied, using invasive hemodynamic techniques with systemic arterial, pulmonary artery and right atrial pressure recordings together with thermodilution cardiac output determinations. Sixteen of the patients were also subjected to cardiometabolic studies, using measurement of coronary sinus blood flow by the continuous thermodilution technique and analyses of oxygen content and lactate concentration in the systemic and coronary circulation.
