31. Regulation of chromatin transitions in the 3D architecture of the nucleus
Sammanfattning : The thesis explores the dynamic features and functions of chromatin crosstalk in the 3D nucleus space, with a focus on the regulation of chromatin transitions. In Paper I we employed the circular chromosome conformation capture assay (4C) and Chromatin in situ Proximity (ChrISP) technique to uncover an inter-chromosomal chromatin fiber interactome comprising both transcriptionally active circadian genes and repressed lamina-associated domains (LADs). 32. The hepatitis B virus – Insights into genetic variability, evolution and Bayesian phylogeographic inference
Sammanfattning : In terms of genome size, the hepatitis B virus is the smallest virus known to infect humans and its compactness with multiple overlapping reading frames puts restraints on the emergence of mutations. In the papers included in this thesis we aimed to investigate genetic variation within the precore and core promoter region and to describe the origin, spread and diversification of HBV genotype A. 33. Coherent Far-Infrared Mode Pumping in Ballistic Electron Channels
Sammanfattning : The influence of a high frequency electromagnetic field on transport properties of ballistic electron channels is investigated theoretically. We are primarily concerned with submicron-width channels formed by split-gate depletion of a two-dimensional electron gas at a GaAs/AlGaAs heterostructure interface. LÄS MER
34. VEGF-mediated vascular functions in health and disease
Sammanfattning : Angiogenesis is essential for physiological processes including embryonic development, tissue regeneration, and reproduction. Under various pathological conditions the same angiogenic process contribute to the onset, development, and progression of many human diseases including cancer, diabetic complications, ocular disease, chronic inflammation and cardiovascular disease. 35. Probabilistic Modelling of Domain and Gene Evolution
Sammanfattning : Phylogenetic inference relies heavily on statistical models that have been extended and refined over the past years into complex hierarchical models to capture the intricacies of evolutionary processes. The wealth of information in the form of fully sequenced genomes has led to the development of methods that are used to reconstruct the gene and species evolutionary histories in greater and more accurate detail.
