6. Radiation and Scattering from Conformal Array Antennas
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with radiation and scattering fromconformal array antennas. A hybrid technique between the Methodof Moments (MoM) and different asymptotic methods is used forthe analysis, combining the accuracy of the MoM and theefficiency of the asymptotic methods. LÄS MER
7. Optimal Performance of Advanced Radiating Structures
Sammanfattning : Requirements on radiating structures are constantly increasing, demand for faster speed, smaller size, and higher reliability drives today's technical development. However, for electrically small structures, less than half-a-wavelength in size, performance is fundamentally limited by physical size. LÄS MER
8. Systematic Antenna Design Using the Theory of Characteristic Modes
Sammanfattning : The day Faraday moved a magnet in and out of a wire loop and detected the time-varying magnetic field, the first wireless transmitter / receiver system was created and the world was changed forever. However, it took almost fifty years for Heinrich Hertz to use Maxwell's equations and Faraday's insights in his professorship at Karlsruhe to create the first electromagnetic wireless communication system using a spark gap dipole transmitter and a loop antenna-based receiver. 9. Electromagnetic simulation and design of etched diffraction grating demultiplexers
Sammanfattning : Among various planar lightwave circuits for multiplexing/demultiplexing in an optical communication system, etched diffraction gratings (EDGs) have shown great potential due to their compactness and high spectral finesse. Conventional numerical methods for grating simulation cannot be used to simulate an EDG demultiplexer of large size (in terms of the wavelength). LÄS MER
10. EMC barriers : measurement methodologies and model verification
Sammanfattning : The subject of Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) is introduced. A short overview of the regulatory EMC requirements in Europe and in the United States is presented. An explanation is given why it is important for people in the electronics business to understand the need for EMC regulations. LÄS MER
