  1. 1. Improving Soft Real-time Performance of Fog Computing

    Författare :Vaclav Struhar; Moris Behnam; Seyed Mohammad Hossein Ashjaei; Alessandro Papadopoulos; Silviu Craciunas; Ivona Brandic; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Nyckelord :ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Fog computing; real-time systems; cloud; virtualization; Computer Science; datavetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Fog computing is a distributed computing paradigm that brings data processing from remote cloud data centers into the vicinity of the edge of the network. The computation is performed closer to the source of the data, and thus it decreases the time unpredictability of cloud computing that stems from (i) the computation in shared multi-tenant remote data centers, and (ii) long distance data transfers between the source of the data and the data centers. 2. 2. Real-Time Communication Services for Distributed Computing over Switched Ethernet

    Författare :Xing Fan; Magnus Jonsson; Högskolan i Halmstad; []
    Nyckelord :ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Switched Ethernet; Real-time; Parallel and distributed processing; Scheduling;

    Sammanfattning : In modern and future parallel and distributed processing, a large part of computation overhead comes from communication. This can be minimized if the network protocol offers the user services that are aimed at specific types of communication used in these applications. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Real-time Shading and Shadows using GPGPU Techniques

    Författare :Ola Olsson; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; real-time; graphics; rendering; GPGPU; GPU-algorithms; deferred shading; ray tracing; shadows;

    Sammanfattning : Modern GPUs have evolved to the point where they now offer a generality of programming that rivals CPUs, while at the same time sustaining much greater raw performance. In combination with a continued rapid increase in power, this generality has turned the GPU into an important platform for general purpose high performance computing algorithms. LÄS MER

  4. 4. On distributed real-time systems : the mStar environment, net-based learning and context-aware applications

    Författare :Kåre Synnes; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Distribuerade datorsystem; Mobile and Pervasive Computing;

    Sammanfattning : This doctoral thesis presents two frameworks for distributed real-time systems, the mStar environment for Computer Supported Collaborative Work (CSCW) and the Alipes architecture for context-aware applications, from the perspective of distributed teamwork and net-based learning. The mStar environment was designed to be symmetric and fully distributed, which allows all users equal access and thus full interactivity, as well as scalable through the use of IP multicast and a server-less design.
