6. On integral equation methods of solution to eddy current interaction problems
Sammanfattning : The eddy current method is used for nondestructive evaluation of conducting materials. To achieve a greater knowledge and insure safe and reliable evaluation methods, the use of mathematical models and simulations are needed. LÄS MER
7. Application of the Boundary Element Method to combustion noise and half-space problems
Sammanfattning : The Boundary-Element-Method (BEM) is a powerful and established tool in computational acoustics. This thesis aims at an enhancement of the method towards combustion noise and half-space problems.First, it is directly coupled to an incompressible Large Eddy Simulation (LES) to calculate the sound radiation of open flames. 8. Development and Assessment of Methods for the Prediction of Hydrodynamic and Ultrasound induced Cavitation
Sammanfattning : The cavitation phenomenon has today become a keystone for different areas of science and technology including various industrial processes and medicine. Recently increasing interest and much attention have been paid to study this phenomenon. LÄS MER
9. Modelling of fracture toughness using peridynamics : A Study of J-integral, essential work and homogenisation
Sammanfattning : Fracture toughness is one of the most important properties of a material. Being able toaccurately estimate the energy that goes into forming new crack surfaces is essential for the development of new materials, quality assurance, structural monitoring and failure analysis. LÄS MER
10. Attenuation of boundary layer disturbances by means of streamwise vortices
Sammanfattning : The stability of the boundary layer developed on a flat plate is studied in the presence of streamwise streaks where disturbances of different types are introduced in the wall-bounded shear layer. The experimental investigations are aimed at flow control by means of passively damping the energy growth of the disturbances in the streaky boundary layer and furthermore delay the onset of the transition in the streamwise direction.
