  1. 16. Stochastic dynamic modelling and statistical analysis of infectious disease spread and cancer treatment

    Författare :Theresa Stocks; Tom Britton; Michael Höhle; Daniela De Angelis; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mathematical modelling; infectious disease spread; cancer treatment; statistical inference; population dynamics; birth-death process; partially observed Markov process; Mathematical Statistics; matematisk statistik;

    Sammanfattning : Mathematical models have proven valuable for public health decision makers as they can provide insights into the understanding, control and, ultimately, the prevention of diseases. This thesis contains four manuscripts dealing with stochastic dynamic modelling and statistical analysis of infectious disease spread and optimization of cancer treatment. LÄS MER

  2. 17. On Estimating Topology and Divergence Times in Phylogenetics

    Författare :Bodil Svennblad; Allan Gut; Tom Britton; Thore Egeland; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mathematical statistics; Phylogenetics; Divergence Time; Likelihood based methods; Non-informative prior; bootstrap support; Matematisk statistik;

    Sammanfattning : This PhD thesis consists of an introduction and five papers, dealing with statistical methods in phylogenetics.A phylogenetic tree describes the evolutionary relationships among species assuming that they share a common ancestor and that evolution takes place in a tree like manner. 3. 18. Epidemic models with contact tracing: manual and digital tracing

    Författare :Dongni Zhang; Tom Britton; Peter Olofsson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; matematisk statistik; Mathematical Statistics;

    Sammanfattning : Contact tracing is an effective measure for controlling the epidemic spreading. In this thesis, we consider a Markovian SIR epidemic model in a homogeneous community with a constant rate of diagnosis (testing) and investigate the preventive effect of contact tracing. LÄS MER
