21. On the Modeling of Premixed Combustion under Varying Equivalence Ratios
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with numerical simulation of reactive flows. The numerical method is three dimensional and unsteady, which allows for spatial and temporal resolution of most of the scales of the fluid motion and the reaction process. In the turbulent cases studied, scales down to Taylor scales are resolved. LÄS MER
22. Shedding light on the bluff body wake instability
Sammanfattning : The flow around a vehicle, for example, results in a large resistance and can generate a complex swirl pattern behind the body of the vehicle, which can lead to strong alternating lateral forces. There is therefore a clear need for more fundamental understanding of the instability of this so-called wake region, which arises behind bluff bodies. LÄS MER
23. Experimental studies in jet flows and zero pressure-gradient turbulent boundary layers
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the description and development of two classical turbulent shear flows, namely free jet and flat plate turbulent boundary layer flows. In both cases new experimental data has been obtained and in the latter case comparisons are also made with data obtained from data bases, both of experimental and numerical origin. LÄS MER
24. A study on axially rotating pipe and swirling jet flows
Sammanfattning : The present study is an experimental and numerical investigation on rotating flows. A special facility has been built in order to produce a turbulent swirling jet generated by a fully developed rotating pipe flow and a Direct Numerical Simulation (DNS) code has been used to support and to complement the experimental data. 25. CFD Modeling of Combustion in Flexi-Fuel Burners at Gas Turbine Conditions
Sammanfattning : The main source of energy in the nearest future will come from fossil fuels. Increasing demands on environmentally friendly energy conversion implies that pollutants, such as CO and NOx, need to be reduced. LÄS MER
