21. Development of Risk Oriented Accident Analysis Methodology for Assessment of Effectiveness of Severe Accident Management Strategy in Nordic BWR
Sammanfattning : Nordic Boiling Water Reactor (BWR) design employs ex-vessel debris coolability as a severe accident management strategy (SAM). In case of a severe accident, the debris ejected from the vessel are expected to fragment, quench and form a debris bed, which is coolable by a natural circulation of water. LÄS MER
22. Biogas Production from Citrus Wastes and Chicken Feather : Pretreatment and Co-digestion
Sammanfattning : Anaerobic digestion is a sustainable and economically feasible waste management technology, which lowers the emission of greenhouse gases (GHGs), decreases the soil and water pollution, and reduces the dependence on fossil fuels. The present thesis investigates the anaerobic digestion of waste from food-processing industries, including citrus wastes (CWs) from juice processing and chicken feather from poultry slaughterhouses. 23. Biogas production from lignocellulosic materials : microbial community structure
Sammanfattning : Lignocellulosic materials such as agricultural plant residues are widely available in large amounts and can be used for production of biogas without the risk of competition for arable land. However, the intricate structure of lignocellulose, a major component of the plant cell wall, limits microbial degradation and consequently results in low degradation rate and low biogas yield. 24. Melt-water interactions in a reactor containment : from integrated assesment to phenomenological studies
Sammanfattning : This thesis examines melt-water interactions for theex-vessel phase of a severe reactor accident. The studies startfrom the development of an assessment methodology that tiestogether the vessel melt release scenarios and the mainprocesses affecting the melt-water interaction effects in thereactor containment. 25. Membrane Filtration of Lignocellulosic Materials: In situ Monitoring of Membrane Fouling Using Fluid Dynamic Gauging
Sammanfattning : The transition of process industries from utilizing fossil-based resources to bio-based ones necessitates energy-efficient and selective operations. One practical operation that can be employed for processing streams containing lignocellulosic biomass, such as forest and agricultural residues, is membrane separation. LÄS MER
