1. Quantum State Analysis : Probability theory as logic in Quantum mechanics
Sammanfattning : Quantum mechanics is basically a mathematical recipe on how to construct physical models. Historically its origin and main domain of application has been in the microscopic regime, although it strictly seen constitutes a general mathematical framework not limited to this regime. LÄS MER
2. Superconducting qubits - measurement, entanglement, and noise
Sammanfattning : In the early 1980’s, it was suggested that a computer obeying the laws of quantum mechanics would be able to solve problems beyond the capabilities of a classical computer. The novel ways in which such a quantum computer works relies on the quantum properties of the quantum bits (qubits) used to store the information. LÄS MER
3. Measurement Back-Action and Photon Detection in Microwave Quantum Optics
Sammanfattning : In quantum optics, the interaction between atoms and photons is studied. In recent years, microwave quantum optics with superconducting circuits has emerged as an important tool for fundamental quantum optics experiments, and also as a promising way for implementing quantum computation. 4. Quantum optics with artificial atoms
Sammanfattning : Quantum optics is the study of interaction between atoms and photons. In the eight papers of this thesis, we study a number of systems where artificial atoms (here, superconducting circuits emulating the level structure of an atom) enable us to either improve on known concepts or experiments from quantum optics with natural atoms, or to explore entirely new regimes which have not been possible to reach in such experiments. 5. Dynamics of Quantum Correlations with Photons : Experiments on bound entanglement and contextuality for application in quantum information
Sammanfattning : The rapidly developing interdisciplinary field of quantum information, which merges quantum and information science, studies non-classical aspects of quantum systems. These studies are motivated by the promise that the non-classicality can be used to solve tasks more efficiently than classical methods would allow. LÄS MER
