Sammanfattning : This thesis is mainly concerned with theoretical studies of two types of models: quantum mechanical Bose-Hubbard models and (semi-)classical discrete nonlinear Schrödinger (DNLS) models.Bose-Hubbard models have in the last few decades been widely used to describe Bose-Einstein condensates placed in periodic optical potentials, a hot research topic with promising future applications within quantum computations and quantum simulations. Sammanfattning : NMR spin relaxation was used to study structure and dynamics of two biologically important peptides.The first case concerns the three-dimensional structure of the 22 amino acid residue peptide hormone motilin in the presence of SDS micelles, which mimic a biomembrane environment. Sammanfattning : One fundamental point of departure for this thesis is the importance of addressing all three basic economic research questions: what is produced, with what and for whom and including them in the discussion regarding long-term macroeconomic performance. This could also be stated as that a consistent historical national accounts approach where both aspects of production and distribution are included can significantly enhance the research on macroeconomic historical issues.
