6. Distributed Peer Discovery in Large-Scale P2P Streaming Systems : Addressing Practical Problems of P2P Deployments on the Open Internet
Sammanfattning : Peer-to-peer (P2P) techniques allow users with limited resources to distribute content to a potentially large audience by turning passive clients into peers. Peers can self-organize to distribute content to each other, increasing the scalability of the system and decreasing the publisher’s costs, compared to a publisher distributing the data himself using a content delivery network (CDN) or his own servers. 7. Live Streaming in P2P and Hybrid P2P-Cloud Environments for the Open Internet
Sammanfattning : Peer-to-Peer (P2P) live media streaming is an emerging technology that reduces the barrier to stream live events over the Internet. However, providing a high quality media stream using P2P overlay networks is challenging and gives raise to a number of issues: (i) how to guarantee quality of the service (QoS) in the presence of dynamism, (ii) how to incentivize nodes to participate in media distribution, (iii) how to avoid bottlenecks in the overlay, and (iv) how to deal with nodes that reside behind Network Address Translators gateways (NATs). 8. Consensus Algorithms in Dynamical Network Systems
Sammanfattning : Dynamical network systems are complex interconnected systems describing many real world problems. The current trend is to connect more and more systems together, and at the same time requiring continuous availability. To this end, it is crucial to understand the dynamic behaviors of networked systems. LÄS MER
9. A System, Tools and Algorithms for Adaptive HTTP-live Streaming on Peer-to-peer Overlays
Sammanfattning : In recent years, adaptive HTTP streaming protocols have become the de facto standard in the industry for the distribution of live and video-on-demand content over the Internet. In this thesis, we solve the problem of distributing adaptive HTTP live video streams to a large number of viewers using peer-to-peer (P2P) overlays. LÄS MER
