1. Numerical Computations with Fundamental Solutions
Sammanfattning : Two solution strategies for large, sparse, and structured algebraic systems of equations are considered. The first strategy is to construct efficient preconditioners for iterative solvers. The second is to reduce the sparse algebraic system to a smaller, dense system of equations, which are called the boundary summation equations. LÄS MER
2. Preconditioners and fundamental solutions
Sammanfattning : New preconditioning techniques for the iterative solution of systems of equations arising from discretizations of partial differential equations are considered. Fundamental solutions, both of differential and difference operators, are used as kernels in discrete, truncated convolution operators. LÄS MER
3. Numerical Quantum Dynamics
Sammanfattning : We consider computational methods for simulating the dynamics of molecular systems governed by the time-dependent Schrödinger equation. Solving the Schrödinger equation numerically poses a challenge due to its often highly oscillatory solutions, and to the exponential growth of work and memory with the number of particles in the system. 4. Numerical algorithms for nonlinear eigenproblems with eigenvector nonlinearities
Sammanfattning : Eigenproblems and their nonlinear generalizations appear as important problems in a wide variety of fields, ranging from quantum chemistry and vibration analysis to macroeconomics and data science. Hence, the development and analysis of numerical algorithms to solve such problems has a broad multiplicative effect on our ability to answer several crucial scientific questions. LÄS MER
5. Heat and Mass Transfer in Built Structures - Numerical Analyses
Sammanfattning : Heat and mass transport processes are often present simultaneously in built structures in building applications. The emphasis of this thesis is to contribute to knowledge about predicting the effects of combined heat and mass transport in built structures. LÄS MER
