  1. 21. Quantification of 4D Left Ventricular Blood Flow in Health and Disease

    Författare :Jonatan Eriksson; Tino Ebbers; Carl-Johan Carlhäll; Gianni Pedrizzetti; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MRI; relative pressure; 4D flow; quantification; turbulent kinetic energy; dilated cardiomyopathy; magnetic resonance imaging; physiology; cardiac function; diastolic dysfunction;

    Sammanfattning : The main function of the heart is to pump blood throughout the cardiovascular system by generating pressure differences created through volume changes. Although the main purpose of the heart and vessels is to lead the flowing blood throughout the body, clinical assessments of cardiac function are usually based on morphology, approximating the flow features by viewing the motion of the myocardium and vessels. 2. 22. Structural and functional changes in the brain after surgically repaired median nerve injury

    Författare :Per F. Nordmark; Roland S. Johansson; Henrik Ehrsson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Humans; Hand; Touch; Peripheral nerve injury; Magnetic resonance imaging; Somatosensory Cortex; Cortical plasticity; fysiologi; Physiology; handkirurgi; hand surgery;

    Sammanfattning : Despite the best available surgical repair, traumatic median nerve injury within the forearm typically causes lifelong impairment in hand function. This stems from an inadequate reinnervation of the nerves supporting sensory functions of the thumb, index and long finger, and of nerves supplying intrinsic hand muscles. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Applications of nanotechnology in neuroscience : functionalized superparamagnetic nanoparticles as contrast enhancers in experimental magnetic resonance imaging

    Författare :Fu-Hua Wang; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a noninvasive imaging technique that helps clinicians not only to diagnose but also to plan the treatment of invasive surgery and actually treat medical conditions. Superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPIONs) are a family of MRI contrast agents that improves MRI sensitivity/specificity. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Evaluation of the infrared reflection method for saccadic eye movement velocity analysis

    Författare :Frank Träisk; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Infrared reflection; Scleral search coil; Saccade; Main sequence; Eye-tracking.;

    Sammanfattning : Saccades are rapid eye movements that change the orientation of the eyes onto objects of interest. In an every day situation saccadic eye movements are used for e.g. reading, scanning objects and enviromnents. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Velocity controlled dynamometry and gait analysis : development of methods and applications

    Författare :Lennart Gransberg; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Dynamometry; torque; measurement error; overshoot; isokinetic; concentric; eccentric; gait analysis; three-dimensional; electrogoniometer; electromagnetic tracking;

    Sammanfattning : The isokinetic systems developed in the present study can measure torque in maximal voluntary and passive movements. The torque recordings may be combined with surface EMG recordings from pairs of antagonistic muscles involved in the movement. Healthy subjects and patients with spastic paresis have been examined.
