  1. 26. The movement towards birth : A study of women's childbirth self-efficacy and early labour

    Författare :Ing-Marie Carlsson; Eva Nissen; Kristina Ziegert; Ann-Kristin Sandin Bojö; Högskolan i Halmstad; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Childbirth self-efficacy; early labour; factor analysis; grounded theory; logistics regression; pregnancy; well-being;

    Sammanfattning : Aim: The overall aim of this thesis was to increase the understanding of early labour, the latency phase of labour, based on women’s experiences and ability to handle the situation. Furthermore, the aim was to perform a psychometric testing of an instrument measuring childbirth self-efficacy and to explore the relationships to women´s well-being and number of obstetric interventions and birth outcomes. 2. 27. PET and MRI of Prostate Cancer

    Författare :Catrin von Below; Håkan Ahlström; Cecilia Wassberg; Mauritz Waldén; Jens Sörensen; Michael Häggman; Joel Kullberg; Katrine Åhlström Riklund; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Prostate cancer; lymph nodes; lymph node staging; PET CT; MRI DWI; extended pelvic lymph node dissection; targeted biopsies; multi-parametric MRI; TRUS guided biopsy; multiple regression analysis;

    Sammanfattning : Prostate cancer (PCa) is the most common non-skin malignancy of men in developed countries. In spite of treatment with curative intent up to 30-40% of patients have disease recurrence after treatment, resulting from any combination of lymphatic, hematogenous, or contiguous local spread. 3. 28. Multimodal treatment of gastric cancer : assessment of tumor regression and the role of minimally invasive surgery

    Författare :Andrianos Tsekrekos; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The generally poor prognosis of advanced gastric cancer (AGC) has led to the development of multimodal therapeutic protocols in which surgery is combined with systemic treatment, perioperative chemotherapy being the preferred approach in Europe. In this context, there still are several issues that need to be addressed. LÄS MER

  4. 29. Family studies of schizophrenia and pregnancy outcomes

    Författare :Anna Svensson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Alternating logistic regression; environment; familial aggregation; fertility; generalized estimating equations; genes; obstetric complications; preterm birth; siblings; schizophrenia; small for gestational age; variance components;

    Sammanfattning : Why do psychiatric diseases run in families? Why do some women tend to have similar obstetric complications in subsequent pregnancies? The overall aim of this thesis was to investigate how genes and environments contribute to the aggregation of schizophrenia and adverse pregnancy outcomes in some families. Further, we also studied the fertility in families of patients with schizophrenia. LÄS MER

  5. 30. Acute lung injury : incidence and predictors of outcome with special reference to inhaled nitric oxide

    Författare :Owe Luhr; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Respiratory distress syndrome; Adult; -drug-therapy; -mortality; Treatment; -outcome; Nitric oxide; therapeutic-use; administration-and-dosage; -adverse effects; Mutagenicity; tests; Chromosome aberrations; Risk factors; Logistic models; Prospective studies.;

    Sammanfattning : This work started out as a critical examination of the initial clinical experiences with inhalation of nitric oxide (INO) to patients with acute lung injury (ALI) and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) in Scandinavia 1991-1994. During this examination, we found that epidemiological data and prognostic factors were lacking in Scandinavia for these patient groups, making it difficult to evaluate new therapies. LÄS MER
