  1. 1. Experimental studies on thrombin inhibition in acute- and chronic models of vessel wall injury

    Författare :Fredrik Scherstén; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :animal model; antithrombin; fibrinogen; histomorphology; melagatran; percutaneous coronary intervention; platelets; restenosis; stent; thrombin inhibition; thrombosis;

    Sammanfattning : Background: The number of percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI) performed worldwide has increased dramatically during the last decade. Complication rates have decreased over time, however the restenosis phenomenon remains an unsolved issue. Thrombin is the key regulator in the pro-coagulant state following PCI. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Invasive treatment of coronary artery disease : Aspects on antithrombotic and percutaneous treatment options

    Författare :Per Grimfjärd; Stefan James; Christoph Varenhorst; P Hedberg; Lene Holmvang; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :PCI; STEMI; stent thrombosis; bivalirudin; heparin; bioresorbable scaffold; cangrelor; drug eluting stent; DES; Cardiology; Kardiologi;

    Sammanfattning : The outcome after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) has improved considerably thanks to more effective antithrombotic treatment strategies and improved coronary stents. Stent thrombosis (ST) is a rare complication to PCI associated with considerable mortality and morbidity. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Aspects on Imaging and Endovascular Treatment of Aortic Dissection and Aneurysm

    Författare :Mats-Ola Eriksson; Rickard Nyman; Anders Wanhainen; Johnny Steuer; Mårten Falkenberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Aneurysms; aorta; stents; ultrasound; colour Doppler; vascular; interventional; aortic dissection; complicated; TEVAR; EVAR; re-intervention; survival; thrombosis; false lumen; aortic remodelling; Radiology; Radiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Aortic aneurysm and dissections are potentially life threatening conditions. The advent of endovascular aortic repair (EVAR) and thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR) has reduced perioperative mortality and morbidity and are now established therapy methods for treatment of aortic disease. 4. 4. Genetic studies on cardiovascular disease - identification of novel drug targets

    Författare :Stefan Amisten; Kardiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Genetics; Medicin människa och djur ; Medicine human and vertebrates ; platelet; single nucleotide polymorphism; myocardial infarction; stent; G-protein coupled receptor; P2Y; cytogenetics; Genetik; cytogenetik; Cardiovascular system; Kardiovaskulära systemet;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to identify novel potential drug targets of cardiovascular disease with a focus on G-protein coupled receptors. We identified a common genetic variant of the ATP receptor P2Y11, where an alanine is substituted with a threonine at position 87 of the P2Y11 receptor that increases the risk of developing acute myocardial infarction. 5. 5. Platelet Inhibition in Coronary Artery Disease – Mechanisms and Clinical Importance : Studies with Focus on P2Y12 Inhibition

    Författare :Christoph Varenhorst; Stefan James; Agneta Siegbahn; Lars Wallentin; Steen Dalby Kristensen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; coronary artery disease; myocardial infarction; acute coronary syndromes; stent thrombosis; P2Y12 inhibitors; thienopyridines; clopidogrel poor response; clopidogrel; prasugrel; Cardiology; Kardiologi; Kardiologi; Cardiology;

    Sammanfattning : Despite the currently recommended dual antiplatelet treatment (DAT) with aspirin and P2Y12 inhibition in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) there is a risk of adverse clinical outcome. Pharmacodynamic (PD) poor response to clopidogrel occurs in ~ 30% of clopidogrel-treated patients and is associated with an increased risk of recurrent thrombotic events. LÄS MER
