  1. 1. Blood Flow in Human Skeletal Muscle : The Effect of Adrenaline and the Influence of a Small Muscle Injury

    Författare :Torbjörn Vedung; Jan Henriksson; Jan Lundvall; Södersjukhuset Karolinska Institutet. Dept of Hand Surgery Dept of Physiology and Pharmacology; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; adrenaline; blood flow; blood redistribution; ischemia; muscle injury; skeletal muscle; strain-gauge plethysmography; sympathetic tone; transmural pressure; 99mTechnetium clearance; tennis elbow; venous compliance; venous occlusion plethysmography; 133Xenon clearance; adrenaline;

    Sammanfattning : A variety of vasoregulatory systems are involved in the complex control of blood flow inhuman skeletal muscle. The interaction between these systems where one system canoverride or modify the other makes blood flow regulation complicated. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Controlling Forced Response of a High Pressure Turbine Blade

    Författare :Jeff Green; Torsten Fransson; Robert Kielb; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Engineering mechanics; Teknisk mekanik;

    Sammanfattning : Vibration induced High Cycle Fatigue (HCF) is a major consideration in designing gas turbines. Indeed, the Gas Turbine manufacturer must demonstrate that the vibration level of the turbomachinery blading is acceptably low, usually by using an engine strain gauge test. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Effect of Compactive Effort on the Behaviour of a Gypsiferous Subgrade Soil

    Författare :Dina K Kuttah; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Gypsum; Soil; Clay; Compaction; California bearing ratio; Triaxial; Moisture content; Pore water pressure; 62 Road: Soil mechanics; 62 Road: Soil mechanics;

    Sammanfattning : Presented in this thesis is a study of the effect of compactive effort and long-term soaking on strength, stiffness and deformation characteristics of a gypsiferous subgrade soil from Kirkuk city.The tested soil is sandy lean clay (CL) according to the Unified Soil Classification System and A-6 (6) soil according to AASHTO soil classification system. 4. 4. Haemodynamic and ventilatory effects of laparoscopic surgery

    Författare :Lena Andersson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Laparoscopy; C02 pneumoperitoneum; indicator- dilution technique; central haemodynamics; cardiac output; central blood volume; venous occlusion plethysmography; catecholamines; multiple inert gas technique; shunt; abdominal wall lift; intrathoracic pressure; ventilation-perfusion matching; atelectasis; spiral computed tomography.;

    Sammanfattning : Background: It has been shown repeatedly that the establishment of pneumoperitoneum (PP) is associated with increased cardiac filling pressures, as well as increased blood pressure and systemic vascular resistance. Patients without heart or lung disease can compensate for these effects of PP, but cardiopulmonary compromised patients may develop cardiac failure during PP. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Effects of the angiotensin II type 1 receptor blocker (AT₁ receptor blocker) candesartan cilexetil on systemic and renal haemodynamics in hypertensive patients

    Författare :Katarina Fridman; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Established primary hypertension is primarily characterised by elevated peripheral resistance and an increase in renal vascular resistance. Antagonism of angiotensin II may be a particularly relevant intervention in this condition, as angiotensin II is known to act both as a powerful vasoconstrictor and as a stimulus to vascular hyperthrophy.
