1. Blood Flow in Human Skeletal Muscle : The Effect of Adrenaline and the Influence of a Small Muscle Injury
Sammanfattning : A variety of vasoregulatory systems are involved in the complex control of blood flow inhuman skeletal muscle. The interaction between these systems where one system canoverride or modify the other makes blood flow regulation complicated. LÄS MER
2. Lower limb venous incompetence and the effect of radiofrequency ablation versus open surgery : Focus on haemodynamics, quality of life and health economic aspects
Sammanfattning : Chronic venous incompetence (CVI) is a common condition, and varicose vein treatment is one of the most-common surgical procedures performed worldwide. Common symptoms of CVI are pain, cramps, itching, feeling of leg heaviness and venous claudication. Advanced CVI can lead to skin changes, eczema and venous ulcers. LÄS MER
3. Haemodynamic and ventilatory effects of laparoscopic surgery
Sammanfattning : Background: It has been shown repeatedly that the establishment of pneumoperitoneum (PP) is associated with increased cardiac filling pressures, as well as increased blood pressure and systemic vascular resistance. Patients without heart or lung disease can compensate for these effects of PP, but cardiopulmonary compromised patients may develop cardiac failure during PP. LÄS MER
4. Fiber-optic sensors for blood flow and respiration rate measurements
Sammanfattning : Optical fibers and fiber-optic sensors have in the last century been subjects for a great interest especially in industry and communication but also in medicine. Optical fibers are used in endoscopes and as light guides for laser surgery. LÄS MER
5. Echocardiographic methods for assessment of coronary artery disease
Sammanfattning : Upright bicycle exercise echocardiography with digital image acquisition in seated position during exercise and in recumbent position before and immediately after exercise was performed in 66 men, one month after an episode of unstable coronary arte1y disease. It was difficult to obtain images of adequate quality during exercise but new or worsening of wall motion abnormalities not seen in recumbent position after exercise were detected at peak-exercise in patients with good image quality.
